I will let you be the judge if this is wrong or right?
I will let you be the judge if this is wrong or right? I thought about going for my BSN instead of ASN and I got some shocking information today about a BSN program. I always thought nursing was just like any other program and anyone could go into it if you had good gades and SAT score. Today, someone told me their university requires senior students take the nursing entrance exam and if you don't take it by their senior year than they can't go into nursing. Another words, they are only accepting younger students into nursing. The way it was explained that even if I got my ASN I couldn't finish my BSN there. I am confused about the requirements for the nursing program. I really don't care but it seems this is age discrimination in some ways. It's great to keep high standards but age has nothing to do with keeping standards high. My question is if I finish my ASN, will it be hard for me to get my BSN and anybody ever heard of this rule? All BSN program this way?I thought most universities and colleges went by SAT, GPA and interviews. Our ASN program chose students by SAT, Anatomy/Psychology, and GPA. :stone

How many people are leaving nursing to go into a different field and what field?
I still haven't decided on a major. I want to go into either nursing, teaching, computer engineering, or business administration. I visit here alot and enjoy reading everyone's threads. I heard nursing is very stressful and alot of nurses are leaving the field because they have to deal with hospital administrators, doctors, other nurses, rude patiences, and etc stuff. What is the most stressful thing about your job? How many people are leaving nursing and what field do you want go into ? I really want go into engineering software but my friends said the field will burn out but I don't think so. I think technology/computer jobs will always have jobs.

How many hours do you go school each week?
I started my prerequsite classes at community college in Janurary. It has been tough trying to be a mom and go college full time. I want to go into nursing but afraid it will be too much for me since I have a daughter and work part-time. Our ASN students has 19 1/2 hours of classes each week. I was curious many hours do ya'll go school each week? I looked into different colleges and all the nursing programs are full time. our community college is only twenty minutes away so that we work toward my advantage. Oh yeah one more question we have 4 days of labs but at the bottom of the of schedule it said week 6-14 will include 12 clinical lab hours which be arrange at beginnging of class so lab and clinical lab hours are not the same thing???????

what is the differences in criminal Justice forensic and nurse forensics
dsczephyr Thank you for your information. I understand tv is reality. Do you think 32 is too old to go into forensics ? I know some fields require you to have certain eye sight and I read DOL they didn't want you to be over 35. I'm curious why you change from criminal justice to nursing. well, thank you for your help.

disability-- do you know nurses with disabilities?
I beat limitations by studing hard, and I usually make A's or B's in all my classes. I think my biggest worry is being discriminated against by the teachers or the teachers being hateful because i am alittle different. I went to lpn and dropped out because I felt like the teacher was so going faill me even if i passed. well, thank you for all the encouragement. Which program would be easier to do, BSN or ASN? thanks for your help.

If somone worked in nursing that is deaf than I shouldn't have any problems because My eyes and hearing are good. I have looked into other fields, and I always felt nursing or teacher was the only things I would like to do.
