Hi all, Please help!!! I just took the Evolve Hesi Community Health exam & quiz and scored around 50% !!!! I have to take the HESI Community Health Exam in 5 weeks and score a 900 to continue in the program. The only advise my lovely BSN school said "its a test for which you really can't study." I'm an A/B student and scored in the 99% on the dosage calc exam but I'm fixin to fail this Community Health exam! I'm not even sure what topics this exam covers!! Any advise? What additional material could I buy to prepare for this exam? HESI Comprehensive Review for NCLEX book ? (it's table on content doesn't look like it has a section on "Community Health") Review and Rationals - Community Health? Sauders NCLEX?

A patient is being treated for osteomyelitis with Rocephine through their PICC. She was recently treated in the ER for an allergic reaction and the PICC line was accessed to give meds there. The patient reported that at one point, the ER nurse handled the PICC line without wearing gloves or first washing their hands. About 24-48 hrs later the patient developed a 99.5F fever for 2 days. The fever spiked to 102F on the 3rd day. The patient also had a swollen and tender cervical lymph node that developed the same time as the fever. The patient also reported extreme fatigue, headaches, and "slight warmth and burning" in the arm with the PICC during those 3 days. There was a question of whether the patient's fever was from an infected PICC line or an adverse reaction to Rocephin. An order was placed to draw blood cultures peripherally and from the PICC line. What is the proper way to draw blood cultures from PICC line? If the PICC line draws blood ok, is it best to draw blood into the cultures without first flushing and wasting blood? Or is it best to first flush the PICC line and waste blood before drawing the blood cultures? Wouldnt this method flush the bactieria out of the PICC and reduce the chance of a successful culture.

Hi All, After 2 years of working on my feet for 12hr shifts, I've developed spider veins throughout my thighs and have noticed a varicose vein forming behind a knee. I want to buy compression hose but don't know what gradient is best: 15-20mmHG, 20-30mmHG, or 30-40mmHG? The problem for me is that I'm only 4'11'' and 95lbs. All the 15-20mmHG hoses I've found online only come in sizes S,M,L. I'm afraid the S will be a bit too big and the hose will not work properly. I've found petite sizes in the 30-40mmHG but can too much compression do more damage than good? Does anyone know what compression gradient is best for preventing spider and varicose veins? Do any 15-20mmHG or 20-30mmHG come in petite(short) sizes? What type of exercise is best? Cardiac or weight lifting? Anything else I can do to prevent or treat the spider & varicose veins (other than the laser surgery)? What type of doctor usually treats this problem? Dermatology? Vascular?
