A few questions about the NET and acceptance into Nursing School
Hi everyone. My name is Jim and I am a first time user to this site. I am currently in the application process for nursing school in Texas. I recently took the NET and am quite concerned about my scores. My wife who is a 7th grade teacher, and some of her teacher friends say that I am crazy to be worried, but I am. Can anyone give me a little insight on whether I should be worried or not. Here is a brief rundown on my test results. Math section: National Average is 69. My score was 97. Reading section: National Average is 59. My score was 63. I completely messed up with time management and didnt finish 5 or 6 questions. There was another section that put everything together (math, reading, stress level, learning style, test taking ability, etc.) Excellent was from 950 to 1000. Superior was from 850-950. Average was 750-850. On this section my school's average was 778. My score was 907. Also I am returning to school after nearly a 12 year break. The school I am applying to counts your GPA from courses that apply to the nursing program, not just the prerequisites. There are only 3 prerequisites and an additional 7 non nursing courses. In those 10 courses I have completed 7. My GPA in those 7 courses is a 3.71. I have received 6 A's (all of them in the last 2 semesters) and 1 C (received 11 years ago). My future nursing school requires a minimum of a 2.5 GPA for acceptance, but obviously exceeding the requirements is normally necessary. Any critical analysis of my grades and test scores would be appreciated. Thanks for all your help.
