  1. Hi all. Would like to elicit some input on a changing paradigm that has occured (or is occurring) in nursing or healthcare for a paper I have to write for my theory class. An idea I had was the use of evidenced-based practice, which was shot down by my teacher because 4 other people were already going to write about it. Now I'm at a loss for ideas! Some of my classmates are writing about: 1. Developement of the internet, which are making pts more informed/savvy about healthcare 2. Men in nursing 3. HiPPA Thanks I would appreciate any input!
  2. Thanks for the great replies everyone. I knew I came to the right place to inquire! To ILUVIT: how much heparin is conisdered "a large dose"? Thanks.
  3. Hi, I don't work with Port a caths much and I was wondering... if you have a port-a-cath that has been instilled w/ heparin and you need to access it to flush it (for those who haven't had to use their port and just need it flushed), do you first need to waste 5-10cc of blood prior to flushing w/ NS + heparin to make sure that the heparin that was instilled before doesn't get flushed into the bloodstream? Or is the amt of heparin minimal enough that is okay to just flush it through? I would love to hear everyone's thought and practice on this. Thanks.
  4. Hi everyone! I'm starting CRNA school this Fall and started to compile a list of things I need to do/buy before the program in order to make the transition successful (both academic related and personal). THings like "See my doctor", "Take a vacation", "Get new glasses" and the like.. Anyone have any suggestions on things we can take care of now in order to make for a smooth, easy transition? Any input would help! Thanks so much and good luck and congratulations to everyone starting school this coming semester!
  5. Hi all! Out of curiosity, what are the most applied to CRNA programs out there? Which are more "popular" (be it due to low cost, good clinical sites, awesome professors). I know there really aren't any good rankings out there (nor should those be even acknowledged when choosing a school) but what are the schools that you guys have heard of that generate buzz (positive or negative). Thanks!
