NGCSU wait list
I'd love to meet everyone as well. LovnLife asked about advisement and classes. I'm taking AP 1 now in a 5 week accelerated session format and will start AP 2 in the same format in late June. So I drive to the main campus 4 days a week right now. I did advisement for Fall and Summer semesters at the same time in April. I think I'll do a recheck with them in August at orientation, though. If you guys want to meet, my schedule is pretty bad Monday mornings through Thursday afternoons because of class. Thursday evenings, most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are more flexible. However, I know my life is crazy right now, so I understand if you cannot work around me. Has anyone been contacted by their student mentor yet? I turned in my form and wasn't clear on when that first contact will happen. M

That is terrific! We will be at the same campus, Vallie007. I think the uniforms run true to size. The size calculator on the website seemed to work o.k. I did have to exchange the first set of pants I got -- should have ordered short. Meridy's was very easy to work with on the exchange. Hope that helps! mlvangil

NGCSU wait list
Hello! I first e-mailed the school and they directed me to the campus bookstore. The bookstore was a little relunctant to give out the info because they said the books could change. However, they've already placed an order for "boxes" of books for all the first year students. So I didn't worry too much that they will change. Because of the cost, they got the manufacturers to package all the books together except two physciatric nursing books we will need (I don't know which ones yet). If you buy the "boxed set" at the bookstore it will cost $411.70 (a savings of $54.90 off list price). I got mine through Amazon (all new) and paid around $300. If you would like the list they gave me, I'd be happy to give it to you "off line." The list is pretty long, so it might be easier for me to scan it and e-mail to you directly. Or I could run a copy and drop it in the mail?

Thanks Rainey23! I am actually taking A&P I right now and several people were speculating how NGCSU picked their students. It seems like a big mystery to all of us. So, I have to ask -- how was first year? I just got a portion of my textbooks and was amazed at the volume of info. How does it compare to A&P? I'm currently taking that at NGCSU in a condensed format -- 5 1/2 weeks for A&P I and 5 1/2 weeks for A&P II. It is pretty fast paced but very interesting and fun. I really am dying of curiosity and more than a little nervous. I'm sure my husband, family and friends are getting a little tired of all my speculating:nuke: mlvangil

Accepted at North Georgia! Now what?
I have a couple of questions for anyone who is currently attending or will start attending NGCSU this fall. Does anyone know how many days per week the ASN program students need to wear the uniform? I'm trying to get my summer "check-ff" list completed and I don't want to have too few or too many. Also, do we have to get our shoes from the company that makes the uniform? I ordered some white Earth brand shoes that have no laces, made of leather, closed back, etc. They are really comfy. I can send them back if they won't work. On the subject of books -- I was told to go to the campus library for the fall book list. Does anyone have an updated list? I can drive up there (it's only about 35 miles) but I was just curious. Oh, and one last question -- does the first and second A&P class use the same book? Thanks for any help you can provide!:)

Accepted at North Georgia! Now what?
Nicole, I never got anything about it either. I don't know if it took place or not. I am going up to the main campus tomorrow evening for summer registration. I'm trying to get a few classes over the summer but I also registered for them at GPC in case NGCSU's classes are full. Is anyone else going to summer INTRO Wednesday evening (April 15)? Michele

Yes, I applied for the ASN/RN program. Depending on our $$ situation when I get out, I would like to go on to the BSN program. Will you be at the Lanier campus? I don't know as much about the LPN bridge, obviously. You guys will be so far ahead of newbies like me! I have to admit, I'm pretty nervous (and excited!).

Vallie007, I don't know the specific numbers for NGCSU, but I did ask a similar question at Emory's open house. They said it completely varies from year to year. They pulled 70 people off the wait list one year, 4 the next and none the next year (2008?). I don't know if all qualified apps make it onto the list. I was originally wait-listed by NGCSU, but got a letter a few weeks ago that said a slot opened up. Don't despair! I ABSOLUTELY had given up on this year. I hope you will be surprised like I was. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Accepted at North Georgia! Now what?
Hi! I have until April 3 to accept a spot at NGCSU for the ASN program/Lanier campus. Sounds like you all know quite a lot about their program. I threw my name in late in 2008, and honestly didn't expect to get in this year. Does anyone know their retention rate for the last few years? I've found their NCLEX pass rate averages 89% from 2004-2007. I had all but changed my mind and decided to go for the BSN (this would be a 2nd bachelors for me -- 1st is in journalism), but it is hard to turn down an acceptance already in hand and less time in school. Any info you guys have would be helpful!
