Thank you so much for all the info - I knew what the drugs did but my book didnt say what different situations called for different drugs (med surg) of course I didnt consider my drug book, which is probably the first place I could have gone, but you ladies (or guys) did a great job w/ your explanations - Thanks so much

We are learning about dvt's etc and I am very confused about the anticoag's meds, they seemed to be used interchangeablly is their a specific protocol when you would want to use a heparin drip as opposed to lovenox and when does coumadin come into play? Im just confused as the diffrences between the three drugs any help would be great - Thanks

We are doing a sims on monday - our pt is 72 3 day post op, NPO, w/faint pedal pulses, faint bowel sounds- all vs wnl - doing my nursing asessment what should i focus on? what are the possible complications? why are his pedal pulses & bowel sounds faint is that normal post op - I was think parayltic illeus w/ faint bowel sounds but what could be my interventions if he is hooked up to ng tube he cant get up and walk any help would be great -

I am in nursing school writing a paper on a suicidal 16 year old girl - she was prescribed 100mg sertaline and is in a psych unit first day- part of the paper includes medical manangement I have to include Common labs and dx tests and Medical/ surgical treatment The only thing I can come up w/ are urinalysis for pregnancy, drugs and alcohol what other kinds of labs would be run or medical management issues would she have? Thanks for your help!
