  1. Hi Suzanne, I am a Canadian who is attending nursing school in the US (I live in a border town and commute to school in the US and back to Canada at night) Also, I lived in the US at one time as I was married to a US citizen, so I already have a SSN, but I abandoned my residency when we divorced and I moved back to Canada. My question is, in order to work in US, what will I have to do beyond the NCLEX in order to receive a Visa Screen Certificate? Will my having had permanent resident status in the past affect my ability to work in the US again? Thanks- Val
  2. Congratulations Rachel! Way to go!
  3. Hi everyone; I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with childhood anxiety disorders. My niece is 7 years old and has always been a very smart child. Over the past month she has begun having panic attacks whenever she is required to be separated from her parents. They now have to go to school with her when before this she was enjoying school (this necessitates her mother sitting in class with her all day and then working the night shift- needless to say the mother is exhausted). She constantly worries about dying and about her parents dying. The parents have taken her to a pediatrician who was not able to find anything physically wrong with her, so now they are starting visits with a child therapist. The teachers at her school are very unsympathetic, attributing the fears/shortness of breath that the child is experiencing to behavioral problems. Is there any way to tell if this is a behavorial issue vs. medical? Any insight would be so much appreciated. Thanks- Val
  4. Hi everyone- I am currently enrolled in a two year diploma program in the US (I still live in Canada but commute to school daily as I live on the US border) since here the only nursing programs offered are four year degrees. I was wondering which provinces still accept new 2 year diplomas and if there is any talk of all of the provinces moving to the bachelors degree requirement. Thank you.
