Univ. of Pittsburgh- Aug 2009. Anyone else?
Thanks for the info again, I tried the Blackberry Storm and it was awful. Always crashing and apps would not load right. So, since I LOVE my Macbook Pro, I tried the iPhone and love it. I got it so close to when the 3G S came out they exchanged it and I have to say the differences are nice, and double the memory. I guess I am officially a Mac girl now. Do you have any other pearls before August gets here? How far are you in the program?

Thanks for the info. I had planned to take three classes over the summer, but maybe taking four and getting patho out of the way would be better. What do you think? Can you please tell me more about the iPhone? Do you love it? Do you use typhon through the internet? Are there many other things you use it for? I have sooo many questions about it and just don't know what to do. I can't PM yet, so thanks again for the info.

Eight miles is not bad, maybe even close to a bus route. Try to avoid places like Wilkinsburg, and south Oakland. There is parking a few blocks from the school that is not too bad, but parking in the Presby garage is close and expensive. I do not know how much a monthly pass would be. Hopefully student services will have info for us on things like that. I don't really think that the times we will be going to class will have traffic problems. Keep in mind that there are many clinical sites so just because you go to Pitt for class, clinical may be somewhere else. So you may be eight miles from class but 30 miles from clinical. I think a lot of people live in the North Hills area. Try looking into that. Good luck. I hope you get here and settled ASAP. I wish I could be of more assistance...

Univ. of Pittsburgh- Aug 2009. Anyone else?
I live about an hour north of the city and it is really cheap living. Taxes are really low compared to Allegheny county. I guess it depends on if you are alone, have a family or a spouse that needs to live near a job, or other circumstances. Do you plan to rent or buy is another big factor. I can only tell you of a few places in the city that are dangerous. Sorry, I am just not that much help on this topic. If you want to move to Butler I am here to help!

Yes, I did. But I think you were in the other group when they split us. I remember thinking AZ was so far to come, but it all worked out for you. Congrats!

Did you interview the 11th in the afternoon? Do you have a place to live yet? Good luck with the move! I hope you are ready for cold, dreary weather. Although, you might not even notice since we will be so busy!

I don't think it will make for a huge advantage. From where are you relocating? I actually have to commute about an hour to get to Pitt, so I will loose any time I have gained quickly traveling so much.

Three classes. Research for EBP 1, Statistics, and something else that is like diagnosis across the lifespan, I will check on that one...I don't know if it really matters, but if I want to add aminor it will free up some time or just make the load a little, little lighter.

I will be starting Pitt in Aug, but I am taking a full time summer session to get a few classes out of the way. Hope to see you there! Do you know anything about typhon? Will it work with the iPhone? Have you heard of any other things that will be beneficial to have for Pitt's program?

St. Elizabeth's YSU vs. Laroche/Allegheny Valley
Thank you very much for you PM. I left a visitor message on your page because I can not PM yet. Thanks again I think I got the feeling that one school would be worse just from the interview, but your experience and others have helped make a difficult decision easy. Pitt all the way!

St. Elizabeth's YSU vs. Laroche/Allegheny Valley
can you elaborate more on why that is your opinion? also, i interviewed at pitt today and was totally blown away by the clinical experience offered. now i am three times as confused! this is such a huge decision and there are so many pros and cons to each program. i know many grads from both pitt and the valley, but how do you decide which one is better? i have heard that the valley lacks in peds and ob. what do you think?

St. Elizabeth's YSU vs. Laroche/Allegheny Valley
hi. i applied to the valley and was accepted and then was offered an interview at st e's. i only went because it was good interviewing experience. i had basically made my mind up that i wanted to go to the valley until the interview at st. e's. they were awesome! i felt at home and was totally comfortable. i am now confused about which school is better. i know a lot of grads from the valley, but none from st. e's. can anyone help with advise on their experiences going to either school? thanks
