Temporary Practice Permit in PA without transcript?
Hi I put my app for tpp/license endorsement in the mail on Wednesday. I was wondering exactly how many days it took to get your TPP in the mail? Were you able to see it online before it came in the mail?

LPN to BSN online (TCN/ISU)
So when i look on your profile this is your only post period. Can i assume that your just a rep of TCN trying to put out a "positive" post for TCN??

LPN to BSN online (TCN/ISU)
Do you live in NJ? or California?... I live in NJ and just signed up for TCN lpn-adn/rn program. i chose this route in order to test drive TCN per se. Depending on how i felt about the program over the next few months i might switch over to the LPN-BSN program (apparantly its too late cancel all together no matter how i felt anyway).... The rep told me that they(TCN) are accredited "regionally" and "nationally", so wouldnt that mean that they're accredited in all 50 states?? If not, are they at least accredited by NJBON? Or should I say is the Excelsior/ISU accredited by NJBON? Will any/all credits accumulated be transferrable is i decide to go to a traditional school? By reading other threads im starting to feel like ive been dooped.....

Need help with Ethical/Boundries Issue
Well apparently ur agency doesn't do surprise check ins or they would have fired the girl by now or at least taken her off the case... Im having a similar issue now wit one of my pt. Well the nurse hasnt gone as far as moving in but she is waaaay tooo attached/involved wit the family personally. The only reason I haven't said anything is bc I plan on leaving anyway for scheduling purposes.. however in ur situation I would DEFINITELY inform ur office.. bc now they're just paying that nurse to live there, n the family is profiting off of it.. N then the girl has the nerve to tell u not to use the washer on ur shift???!!!??? O_o get the f*** outta here!!! Uve got to be kidding me!!!... Tell ur agency ASAP!!! IT'S A MAJOR CONFLICT!! bc if anything were to erupt between the 2 of u, the family is getting rid U! Not her!!... If u think u won't feel comfortable in the house afterwards then ask ur agency to find u another case before they approach her

Starlight Home Care Pediatrics??
Uggh this is the exact reason I really want to get out of homecare. As flexible as the hrs are, it can be just as unstable. Vacations, hospital stays, insurance denying nursing hrs, the nurse/family/patient "fit", etc... I love my patients to death but its hard to live comfortably sometimes when u don't know if it will last.

Starlight Home Care Pediatrics??
I work for them now (teaneck office) n I don't really have any complaints.. in the beginning its slow to get cases/full 40hr work wk. But once u get going it definitely gets better, especially if ur hrs are flexible n ur always willing to pick up hrs... I think like any agency, the more ur willing to pick up shifts, the more they will call u.. for a good few months straight I was working 48-60hrs a wk... Also, the staff is great. They always stand by their nurses. Which is great because there are some agencies out there that only care about banking hrs even if its bad for nurses mental/physical well being...

help!! lpn looking to move to Orlando/Tampa area...
In Jersey, its 99% no go for lpn's in hospitals. There are the rare few that do, but they only do in-house hiring or you have to have crazy amount of experience... I'm all for working in LTC... I'm just tired of homecare. Even though its easy to get work, it's not always that stable. And that's what I need - stability, as well as somewhere where I'm always moving. I love my homecare pts but it gets complacent =\.

help!! lpn looking to move to Orlando/Tampa area...
I've been an lpn-homecare peds for about a yr and half.. I'm looking to relocate to orlando/Tampa area by the end of the yr the latest... Can anyone tell me the best places to start looking for work? I currently work for Bayada in Nj. I contacted Bayada in florida but they said the only hire lpn's per diem, if that... I need fulltime work or at least steady work. I would looove to work in a hospital. But ill try anything of course...

I love my job =)
Im a lpn from north nj. I got my licence in october. Personally, I found the job hunt to be pretty difficult. I went to just about every ltc facility in a 25-50mile radius. No one really wants to hire a ” new grad”. Even though I was a medical assistant for a number of yrs n also did private duty as well, I was still considered as having no experience b/c I never worked under a license... I dont know what ur background is but if ur just starting out, homecare agencies is the best bet. But definitely try the ltc's, u never no what may happen

I love my job =)
I havent been on this site in awhile. I was just looking through my past posts and thinking about how my last 2 or 3yrs have gone, personally and professionally. And i just wanted to say that I absolutely adore my job. Im currently working as a homecare nurse for peds, and of all my jobs that Ive had throughout my working life this one has to be my absolute favorite. No matter what is going on with me in life, when i walk in to work all I see is a loving, innocent, non-judging, care-free smile and it just brightens my day... All worries, problems, stress, etc just fly out the window, sanity flies right back into my soul (even if it is just for a few hours a day), and all my ups and downs become worthwhile... Ive been in the medical field for a number of years now and until now I can honestly say that most of my jobs have just been..well, A JOB: Just rack up the hours and collect a paycheck(though in my defense im a workaholic by nature)... Here I realize that I really make a difference in someone's life. I help my 'kids' become the best little person of society they can be despite any physical/mental challenges! In return they are shaping me into best little nurse/person of society I can be.. For one thing, im not just the lady with the pills, nor are they room 8 bed 2 on the bwing. Though I will eventually need the experience of handling larger quantities of patients, I dont think I want to let go of these bonds Ive come to develop anytime soon.. lol call me crazy but i kinda enjoy singing "there's a party in my tummy, so yummy so yummy" as i whip up something to eat after work ..
