Uk to australia question
Originally wanted to move to the states but the hassle is just beyoned me retrogression is at a standstill and 6 years waiting is not an option for me and my family anymore.Have had to chase everything up in this country especially my registration details unbelievable 2 months and loads of phone calls even after payment to get my registration documentation sent to the states.Had everything assessed apart from registration within 6 weeks via Vermont they deserve a pat on the back unlike some departments in this country. My transcripts were not broke down enough and deep down i know i am going to be short in certain areas due to post 2000 rn training in the uk.Have tried to get my transcripts broke down by my uni yet the lady i have to deal with is on holiday again for 2 weeks(she was on holiday when i asked for transcrips back in may)and i even explained in my email originally what i wanted and what vermont have now emailed me back asking for.Querying hours in paeds/maternal and psych hours. It feels like i have been banging my head against a brick wall and the us unfortunately is no longer an option to me and my family. We have relatives whom have agreed to sponsor us under the skilled visa cat for australia however 1 question i am not 100% sure on and was wondering if anyone can throw any light on it is According to what i have read i will be given automatic registration in the state of Queensland with no transcripts required just my nmc registration certificate of graduation and a employment reference. Now all other states require a breakdown of transcripts yet Queensland doesnt is it possible to register in Queensland and then have it endorsed by them to Victoria a few weeks later by the mutual recognition path or do i have to take up employment first in the state of Queensland. Just wondering if anyone has physically done this at all. Have a house to rent by cousin sorted when i am ready to go and am already in contact with possible job prospects in melbourne so Victoria is looking the best way as queensland has too many stingers too many cyclones and then it floods !!! any help greatly received

retrogression all is not lost
quote We have movement on the bill On June 12th it was referred by the house of Judicary to the sub committee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law. It is being rumoured by certain people that they are going to try and attach this bill to the health reform act which will go through this year so there is more hope now than when it was introduced. erjean

It doesnt always take that long i suppose there are many elements involved but recently these bills went through rather quickly and i wouldnt say they were emergency bills S692 introduced march 25 reported on may 20 2009 h r 146 introduced jan 6 passed march 25 2009 s res 88 + h con res 78 + h res 139 the list can go on all non urgent yet passed within 2 months so i cant really see where you are getting that statement from. quote "It takes awhile for a bill to be passed unless it is an emergency . Congress just recently went back into session. Any movement won't happen for months due to the fact this is the normal course" It all comes down to what they want to pass when but bills can get passed within a couple of months i agree a lot dont make it but you nor i can be sure when this will be passed and it seems that a lot of people want to write this off already. We could be surprised at least the us seem to have a government whom know what they are doing unlike our fiddling expense starved politicians

Still no movement from the original introduction ioof this bill. Time will tell if it moves any further if not then i for one will be looking for an alternate way into getting out of the uk. The us is our dream and we are determine to make the move one way or other its just a matter of the order of preference that may need changing. E-2 visa looks like the quickest way and then keep the business running until i can find an employer whom will be willing to sponsor greencard jean

retrogression all is not lost
Same here 2 years ago my son had an accident in florida The receptionist was american the triage nurse a lovely irish lady the rn was english and the doctor was asian american its the greatest multinational country on this planet thats one of the things that makes it a great country to live. Here we have corrupt politicians a self elected primeminister oil prices again around 4 quid a gallon yet a barrel of oil is only $60 a barrel yet it only went up to 1.17 a litre when it was 160 dollars a barrel cant work that one out. We are now officially a third world country compared to the likes of the us australia and now germany china. Even certain famous people have had to fight to get the most feared warriors on this earth residency when they gave their lives and saved thousands of lifes in our cause Uk is a disgrace and i am ashamed sometimes to call myself english rant over!!!

May 8, 2009 Senator Schumer Predicts Comprehensive Immigration Reform This Year Filed under: CIR update-Victoria Neilson @ 3:10 pm Yesterday the Daily News reported that Senator Schumer praised the contribution of immigrants to the United States and stated that immigrants are the reason New York City is the greatest city in the world. He predicted that Congress would pass comprehensive immigration reform within the year. As the chair of the Judiciary Committee's Sub-committee on Immigration, Refugees, and Border Security, Senator Schumer plays a key role in shepherding all immigration legislation out of Committee and ultimately onto the Senate floor. For Comprehensive Immigration Reform to have any chance of moving forward, Schumer's leadership is essential, so these strong words of encouragement are a very welcome sign. Interest rates are actually going down in the us and have been for the last 18 months it shows the economy has been struggling i would be even more worried if they were on the increase as that shows that the economy is really strong. They have room to move down another half a percent 0.50 to 0.25 but the feds keep stepping in so i cant see where that came from. the hr2536 is like you say the same as the hr5924 which went awol but from what a lot of attorneys in the us are saying they will pass this bill as an attachment of a the 2005 Emergency Supplementation Appropriations Act 2005 which only takes a fraction of the time its all down to the sub commitees . Its interesting that senator schuman has predicted that cir reform will take place this year now considering he is the big boy in this reform he isnt going to declare something that isnt going to happen and make himself look a martar there again we know how uk politicians have acted of late so anything is possible.

Right i tracked the bill down its for 60,000 people who fit the section a cat which i know nurses are now in for 3 years which is 20,000 each year upto september 2012 and any visas not taken up one year can be used in addition to the following years allotment the processing time will be 30 days after filing so retrogression will not apply for nurses. The bill has been introduced into the house i dont know how long it takes to get passed but i think from what i have read on the us governemnt websites its going to be by the end of the year.

Thats not what this official statement was referring to quote "he currently proposed legislation closely mirrors a 2008 proposal that called for RNs to be exempted from any numerical limit on visas until 2012. so i dont think this is the same as there are no numerical limits yet there is with that act?

retrogression all is not lost
Retrogression Ending Legislation Introduced in Congress May 27, 2009 - New legislation specifically aimed at ending visa retrogression for RNs was introduced in the United States Congress May 20, 2009. The currently proposed legislation closely mirrors a 2008 proposal that called for RNs to be exempted from any numerical limit on visas until 2012. While this is only the first of many steps before this Bill becomes law, it is a positive development after many months of no legislative action at all on this issue. We believe that there are several reasons for cautious optimism that a solution to visa retrogression will be found this year. Firstly, President Obama appears to be willing to tackle several complex issues at the same time and he has clearly stated that he intendeds to get to work on immigration reforms starting now. Also, the current legislative proposal had gained significant support in the House of Representatives and the Senate before the elected officials all went campaigning for the fall 2008 federal election. It is very likely that those who supported the measure in 2008 will continue to support the current effort. . While the current economic downturn has resulted in a sharp reduction in nursing and allied health vacancies for some employers, the facts are that the current economic conditions have not changed the demographic profile of the country and that the medium-long term trends continues to point to an increasing shortage of health care providers.

Hi there Well for the past few years the uk universities have not included practical hours in all subjects theory yes but not practical.Maternity is only covered in the midwifery course and paeds in child nursing course not in general nursing. I have been told its an I-140 VISA which will lead to permanent residency after so many years. does that help

UK TO USA FLORIDA
Just a quick question i know a lot has been covered in this area but i have a couple of questions i cannot find the answer to and was wondering if anyone knew the answer. I qualified last year and secured a full time job in a and e. Now firstly i have all theory hours that cgfns will be looking for in obs med sur paed psych but am unsure as to what covers you for practical hours as my placements were in sur med community rehab and a and e.I have made enquiries through a company called nurses4america and they seem to think that there is a way round it.I am unsure of what the company are trying to do but they seem quite intent in trying to sell us the nclex course. Now according to the posts i have read here you cant actually sit the nclex unti you have had cgfns clearance. So questions if anyone can answer Are nurses4america trying to hard sell me the nclex training course knowing that i have told them i dont have practical hours in obs paed and psych but i do have experience as an a and e nurse in psych and paed working in a and e dept. Does anyone have good points and bad points about going with an agency or is it best to go solo They are saying 18 months to get us over there? any advise greatly appreciated
