I have Cheng and she is good. Homework is easy, time consuming sometimes but not bad. Online tests can be difficult though so take notes on the important things in each chapter to use during the timed tests. You will not have time to go look up the answers in your book.

Thanks so much for your advise. I appreciate it. I have my fingers crossed that I will get in after I finish A&P II in May.

It is nice to have two people on here that know the IWCC program. Can you tell me besides the prereqs and Nutrition, Intro to Sociology and Psychology and Micro, are there any other classes that can be taken before nursing program? I know someone mentioned Workplace Empowerment might be a possibility to take this summer before fall starts, but I wasn't sure if that was an option. Since it is such a full load each quarter, I would like to get anything out of the way early if that is possible. I think one of you mentioned that the LPN part of the program is more intense than the RN is there anything that can be prepared for to help that go easier or is it the newness of clinicals and patient care that is the most stressful? Do you feel the clinicals were well supervised and you weren't just thrown in there, as I was in my CNA class that I took? As you can tell I am a little nervous of the work load as I am nontraditional student and have a family load to carry also. Thanks so much for any info you can provide.

Just wondering if anyone has taken Nutrition at Metro and if so, did you take it online or in class? Doesn't look like they have too many classes but quite a few online courses for it. Just wondering what you thought of it and how much work it was? The last half of the class will overlap with A&P II and I don't want to be overwhelmed. Would appreciate anyone's input who has taken it. THanks!

Thanks again for the info. I am finishing A&P I now at Metro and then will take A&P II at IWCC in the spring semester and finish in May. I will then have everything done and can submit my last class for admittance in the fall session. I will try to finish up all my general ed classes in the summer as I heard it is hard enough without having those to squeeze in too. I am not looking forward to 6:30 or 7 am clinicals as I am coming from West Omaha and that will be a very early morning for me. Appreciate your info!

Thank you so much for responding to my question. I'm glad to hear you say that there are others with families in the program. Also you said the program just switched to 4 days - what day do you have off now? I have a sample of the first semester of their classes that I obtained at the nursing night meeting so I have kind of an idea of the schedule. How are clinicals? Are they still starting at 7 am? I am hoping to get into Iowa Western's program next year and was just wondering what the work load was like. I have 2 boys that will be in Jr high and high school then, but of course they still need my help and guidance through the evening. I am hoping that the nursing program won't be too difficult to do with a family and all. How much reading and homework is there each night? How long are clinicals, etc? Would love any info you would like to share. THanks so much!

Thanks Christina for the info on Templeton. Does he break things down pretty well for memorization and how much time would you say you studied weekly for his class? Did you take it with any other classes and/or would you recommend doing so? I've heard A & P takes ALOT of time because of all the memorization, so I am trying to prepare myself and make sure I have the time available to get a good grade. Did you take him for microbiology?

I was hoping to find someone who had Todd Templeton for Human Anatomy. I am so glad to hear that you liked him. Can you tell me a little more about his teaching style? I have Alan Wasmoen now for Intro to Biology and I think he is a hard teacher as far as the amount of information that he gives you to learn for each test and the wording on his tests. I like him for the fact that he gives extra points for labs and homework assignments to help bring your grade up if you don't test well though. Can you tell me a little more about Templeton's way of teaching. Thanks!!!

Okay I guess I can't send a PM until I have 15 or more posts. I won't be able to get all of the general ed classes done by January so I am waiting until the fall one. I didn't want to be overwhelmed in their program since it sounds pretty intense, so figured I better get those general ed ones done first before I apply. I am still back and forth between the two courses, but will apply to both if I can get all of the classes done or pretty much done. I would have Microbiology to do in spring of 2010 and one/two others. You will need white scrubs for the clinicals at Metro but that is not until your last week and they will give you all the info when that times comes. You just need a watch with a third hand by the 2nd day of class or so just in case you start practicing your skills. I wouldn't worry about the hospital thing as you are only going to nursing school and not really competing against your hospital. You don't really have any control where they go. The class part of the CNA was fine, but the clinicals was pretty stressful. I think it just depends on your instructor and how fast she pushes you to be on your own. I thought ours pushed too quickly and our patients were fully dependent. I got an A in the class though so I survived.

Wow, that is alot of classes. How many are you taking at once? I just finished my CNA and Human Growth & Development. Are you taking the CNA at Metro? So, are you trying to cover all the classes to apply at IWCC & Metro? I am having a hard time deciding which ones to take first as I don't think I can get both sets of prereqs done. Today was my first day of signing up on here so I have to figure out the friends thing too. I am taking A & P in fall and winter, how about you?
