ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
Hey SEA3347 :) So when I went to the advancement workshop for Fall 2011 (about 2 weeks ago), the advisor told me that they sometimes end up advancing the entire alternate list because people decide not to go, can't pay for it, etc, but they always end up advancing a part of it from what I understand. I guess like two cycles ago, they moved up 15 people or some number like that. I know this doesn't help a whole lot, but that's what I was told by her. Hopefully this helps a little. Good luck to you!

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
Later this week? Wow they weren't kidding when they said that they would be going out at the "end of March". When I went to the advancement workshop for Fall 2011 (had to be prepared lol), they said that starting with the fall they would probably email the letters instead..... so why not just start now! Obviously, they already know who got in and who didn't! Frustrating!

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
Oh boy, hopefully they do go out today because I've been counting on it since like last week! At this point, I'm just going to student services and tell them to hold my letter, I'll come pick it up hehe...it's faster that way!!!! :) J/K I wish they would just release the cutoff scores on the same, or even next day that the letters go out... because that would save worry and time for a lot of us.

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
I am really tired of all these constant changes. It is really, really frustrating. I think that it has gotten out of hand and after four years of ASU, I think I am personally ready to look at other schools. But, just venting here lol:lol2:

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
I received my letter on Saturday. I was surprised it was that fast... given it is ASU lol. But, sure enough, there was a mistake on my GPA and they did not correctly enter my grades, causing me to have a lower advacement score. I almost had a heart attack :redpinkhe But... then I just called them on Monday and made sure they fixed it. I have an advancement score of 5.564. My best advice, really make sure you check over everything! And oh wow, 185? That's quite a few applicants this semester. The letter also says that the advancement letters will go out by the end of March! I can't wait. The anticipation is killing me !!!! Good luck everyone.

I also tried calling and emailing, but no one was willing to release the info to me. If you could fill us in on where you got this info from, I'd appreciate it :)

I am so nervous! I wish we could know how many people applied. I don't know what to expect. I want to try to stay positive, but I just don's know if my 5.556 is going to cut it here Good luck everyone!

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
I dropped my application off today. So I asked the receptionist at the front desk if she had heard about this rumor. She said she had and that it's simply not true. She said that they had a staff meeting recently and the director of the nursing department said there will be 80 spots at Downtown and 20 at Mayo. She sounded really confident and didn't give me the type of broad answer that makes you wonder whether it's really true or not. She said that she doesn't see how this would be fair to the students that have made plans to go to Mayo. I agree. Hopefully, this helps a bit and hopefully, it's the truth and ASU doesn't just spring this change on us sometime in March or April!

Yes energizerbunny19!!!! I am definitely worried. For me, Mayo was not my first choice due to location; however, cutting seats, no matter what location it might be at, all means the same thing in the end= less people getting in! I can see how this worries you because it seems that all of us at ASU always need to plan our lives around the nursing program and making adjustments to our plans every time ASU decides to make a change(or at least that's what's been going on with me)! I mean 20 less people is a lot (to me)... man, even 5 less could be make or break for 5 students that have been waiting for so long! I know exactly how you feel! I constantly vent about what ASU is doing. How hard is it to make a plan and stick to it! We had the NET, now we have the TEAS. We had seats available at the ASU West campus when I was a freshmen and sophmor, then those got cut. Then there was supposed to be an interview along with the application process and they were going to look at volunteer work you have been involved in... then, a couple of months later, that whole thing got scratched. Oh yea, and then there was the big change that will start with the Fall 2011 with the whole multipliers for your GPA thing.... and now cutting seats... again? See where I'm going with this? I mean come on, some consistency would be nice. I mean they expect near perfection from us, can't we get some of the same from them. Again, just like energizerbunny19, I don't mean to keep rambling on about this, but it's just not right to keep us in the dark. I don't see why some student would just all of a sudden make up a rumor about this, without actually getting some sort of hint that it might be happening from someone in the nursing office. If it helps... As soon as I heard this, I emailed two advisors (since two is better than one, I figured ). I simply stated that I heard some info about this and wanted to know if any of it was true. The response I got was one of those that are super short and open to interpretation, or at least I thought so. It went like this: "The latest information that I have is that there will be Mayo spots for the summer 2011." Sooooo...I'm thinking, does that mean that there's something in the works that will possibly cut those seats?.... Of course, being worried, I asked that question also. I got a reply saying something along the lines of "students requesting advancement for summer would be notified of this change if it does happen." Right, and let me guess, we'll wait till the middle of April to do that too! Ugh, just frustrating. I know that it's not the end of the world, but it gets tiring after a while to have to adjust to change after change. Again, don't mean to complain, but I know that's what I ended up doing. I am dropping off my application tomorrow morning. I'll try to get more info from an advisor and keep you guys posted if I hear anything.

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
Oh my gosh EMTJeremy.... thanks so much for checking. I almost had a heart attack right now. I would have been super upset if this were true. Not that it that it makes my score look that much better lol but, ya know, 20 more spots definitely help.

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
So.... I just got back from my TEAS test. I got an 87.3%. It's definitely not what I had expected when I first started studying to the test, but I am surprised that I got anything over an 82% after being so stressed out and sick about it. Overall, I'm pretty okay with my score though. I did pretty much all I could. With my low gpa of 3.81 and my TEAS at 87.3%, that puts me at a total score of 5.556 :uhoh21: I don't know how the summer will play out, but I know that would not have been enough for the spring 2011. But, like I said, I did all I could and now I'm just going to wait it out and pray that things work out in my favor It seems that everyone has heard different stories on here... one advisor said this, the other said that, who know what to believe anymore. I guess we'll all know once the letter comes. Mayo is getting cut?!?!?!?! This really makes me upset if it's true. Are they ever going to stop changing things on us around here! I mean that's 20 less people getting in... and what about the people whose first choice was Mayo altogether? This is crazy....

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
I don't know... I sure hope that there is a decline in the the scores though. I know that last semester, students had the opportunity to take the TEAS twice for one application period, since it was the first semester it was being used (from what I can remember). I know that many of the students that got into the Spring 2011 got a much better score the second time around on the TEAS test. Maybe this is driving it? I know that if I had the chance to take it again, I'd probably get a little bit of a higher score. Unfortunately, I don't get to do this and I am taking the TEAS tomorrow morning. I'm literally sick to my stomach just thinking about getting anything less than an 89%. Since spring's cutoff was 5.597, getting anything lower than an 89% would mean I'm not competitive enough (seeing how I have a 3.81 gpa). All I know is that I really, I mean really, hope that there aren't that many applicants this cycle. Wish there was a way to know.... a girl can dream though

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
Hey there :) No, I am not taking any classes this semester because all my pre-reqs are done and I didn't see the point in spending money on classes I don't need, ya know? So I hope that I can score in the high 80's as well! I am really scared though because I just took the first practice test online from ATI (granted, I have not yet studied for the science section at all, but the suspense was killing me and I wanted to gauge where I was at with the other subjects for all the time I have spent studying) and I ended up getting a 68% on the first practice test. :smackingf:smackingf:smackingf I am super scared now. I mean I have heard that the practice tests are harder supposedly, but did you take any through the ATI website, and if so.... how did you do. I would really appreciate any input. The science is was brought my score down of course, but even the reading, math, and english portions were only in the low to mid 80's for me......I swear the subject-verb agreement stuff will be the end of me! I guess it's back to studying and then taking the second practice test on the night before the big day!!!!! I take the TEAS on 1/27.

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
I know that the student loans through the government won't be enough for me to be able to pay for the summer program... and I never qualify for any grants, unfortunately. However, I'm thinking I'm going to have to get a private school loan as well.... like through a local bank, since that will fill in the gap that federal student loans will leave. If you think you might go that route also, just make sure you do some research and pick the best choice out there (ya know, lowest interest, appropriate payback term)..... and most of them, not all, don't make you start paying back the loan until 6 months after graduation, just like the federal student loans. Hope that helps a little. I'm hoping there will be some scholarships I might qualify for if I get accepted for the summer program, but I'm pretty sure that's not gonna happen!

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
I know it's possible, but it's just so scary and kinda frustrating that we have to know all this stuff that we'll never probably use again. I'm just a chronic worrier, that's all lol But anyhoo.....I have a 3.81 select GPA... so that's pretty much bottom of the barrel at ASU. It's because I have two B's in my sciences, so to retake those, it wouldn't even be worth it because I would need so many random pre-reqs specific to the replacement courses that our regular major map doesn't require. So, I'm stuck with my 3.81

ASU Summer of 2011 applicants!
Man.... I am really worried... everyone seems to have a 4.0 here, where I am sweating bullets trying to figure out how to get anything above a 90% on my TEAS so that I can be somewhat competitive. I guess the only thing to hold onto at this point is the hope that not that many people apply... preferably under 100 ha!!!! I'm so worried! My stomach has been in knots since the advancement workshop! :uhoh21:
