  1. thats a very good first step which will lead to bigger steps .. dont be so quick to brush off the LTC experience and prefer a hospital... because everything you do in a hospital you do in an LTC..... the only major difference is that in the hospitals .. there are so called premium "areas" like the OR, the DR, and ER.... but use the LTC as your stepping stone to gain to begin experience in the hospital .... it will look good on your resume to have at least 1 full year experience in an LTC with a sub acute unit when you apply for a hospital giving you a better rate and a choice of shifts to work rather than starting from scratch in a hospital ..... because with the LTC , it gives you a chance to seee the medication, and to handle patients without the stress of hospital type work .... when you feel good and comfortable that you are familiar with the meds and the process of nursing as it relates to the paperwork .... then approach the hospital and they will hire you in a heartbeat... guaranteed....
  2. it is a very open job market for our profession right now .. but it does not mean that you only look for jobs in the hospitals, there are LTC facilities that will hire new grads .. it just depends on the choice you want to make if you are willing to work for an LTC for the meantime, while applying for hospitals once you gain the experience ... it would be to your advantage.... i myself just graduated last april from my BSN degree and went on to pass my Nclex exam this january... am presently employed in an LTC, for competitive pay i might add... and im looking to expand my horizon to the hospital in the year but .. for now to gain a little experience and gain floor time ... which is helpful before the hospital where the staff will eat you alive if you dont have experience .. opt for the LTC....
  3. im just glad its over with ... christ i waited long enough...... but it'll be worth the wait ... trust me ...hopefully you get everything settled .... best of luck ....
  4. yup a piece of blue colored paper, with your name and license number on it ... thats what i said when i saw it for my self .... because i thought it was like my license from cali which somewhat resembles a credit card ... but nope its a piece of paper ... hehehehe ...i guess it makes up for it in the pay .. huh ....
  5. then you should be receiving a letter with your name typed on the envelope .... in 3 weeks with your certification, stating that you have been duly licensed in the State of New Jersey ... its going to have your license number, and expiration date on it .... then the actual certificate and "card" (which is just a piece of colored paper with your name on it) that's how cheap they are .... will arrive in a like a week , but that certification letter you can take to your employer and its as good as your license ...
  6. yeah...in the welcome letter it checks the verification letter from your board hand scan results .... right??? but if you're like a friend of mine .... they requested for a copy of he CGFNS evaluation, because she graduated abroad.....but i guess you wont have that problem....
  7. That welcome letter you received .. tells you they just processed it ... so after 3 weeks or so you should either receive a letter with your confirmation and license number or another letter stating that the board needs additional documents, hopefully its the latter and not that ..... then if you do receive the confirmation letter with your license number .... check your last name on the website ... it should be updated and also placed there ... on the licensee section ......
  8. its the confirmation letter with my license number issue and expiration date ... and saying my license card will arrive 7 days after .... if and when you receive that paper ... you can take that to your employer ... as your record that your licensed and use it for employment purpose ....
  9. ey.... kem .. i just received my endorsement letter in the mail on saturday..... how's your status coming along ... ????
  10. how long's that gonna take... doesnt that go through the same process and through the same office??? wow.... you know its not even funny what we're going through anymore ..... huh???
  11. thats why nursing is sometimes what you called a calling for most people because we endure salaries that are sometimes inadequate for what we know and do... hehehe but thats nursing ...
  12. just about right... what you said.... im thinking the same thing too.. im glad they didn't lose my application because well... they cashed my check...hahahaha .... yeah i called the board once and it sounded like she didnt get enough sleep before she went to work ... hahahahaha ..... and thats what frustrates me because instead of helping you out with useful information so you dont call them anymore, you get so cockamamie answer which leaves you with more questions and you end up calling more than you need to because of their slow system....but i guess im just gonna have to wait too... problem is im already in jersey .. if i was in california it would not be a hassle ... i could care less when it came ... you know what im sayin' but....
  13. heck yeah me too... in total i think i've waited for it for like 2 months.... while i waited like a week for my license in cali ... i got it 2 days after i found out i passed the nclex exam.. how's that for a comparison...
  14. thats the BIG question....hehehe if it took them 2 months just to give me my print scheduled ... i wonder how long this will take, hmmmmmm..... another 2 months perhaps?? hahahahaha :angryfire
  15. they already cashed my application check the day after i had my prints done.... but yet failed to send me info regarding the status of my license .... all my requirements had to be complete else they would not process the check am i correct in saying that??? they're so quick to cash checks but yet give no info on whether or not the status of your application is ok or not what the hell???
