i have been a icu nurse for a little over a year and have been considering joining a nursing organization (ex: aacn) . i have researched several in which appear to be good organizations but am unsure of what i can benefit from paying all this money to join . . . anyone have any ideas or thoughts??? thanks!!!:wink2:
In our MICU we have 2:1 ratio. Patients become a 1:1 if they are on CVVH or extremely busy i.e. the nurse is so busy she can not even leave the room to use the restroom or answer a phone call.
I moved to Baltimore last year to work at Hopkins. I started at the main campus and moved to JH Bayview. Bayview is a little smaller and In my opinion much nicer (as far as people go). The main campus can be a bit overwhelming at first but they have a good program for new grads "The SPRING program" is the name of it. Bayview also has a new grad program. If you can try to set up an interview at both and see which one you will fit in better at. They are only about 1.5 miles apart. Good Luck!!
