  1. I know for a fact that the entrance will be back for spring 2010 at Jeff State. As far as the whole state of Alabama, im not sure but i have heard some rumors of it. Im in the same boat as you, ive been trying to get an A this semester in a&p2 but it aint gonna happen. So i have to make an A in micro too. Looks like the entrance exam is gonna be the icing on the cake!
  2. Hey. What program are you in? and when did you start? I was wondering if you might could give me a little info about the actual program? Like clinicals, what you wear, stuff like that. Ive read all kinds of threads about people getting into jeff state but none about what it is like once your in. Thanks
  3. Matchsticktgt I will hopefully *crosses fingers* will be starting the lpn program at jeff state this fall. What about you?
  4. Right now Jeff State only uses a point system Starting next year they will using your grades along with making you take an entrance exam, (i am not sure which one but I think it will be the Pax-RN) but it has three sections including math, verbal ability, and i think a writing portion. You must make a certain score on it to even be considered for acceptance into the program. Hope that helped. Personally, I kinda think it stinks because ive worked hard to get my grades up so that I would be accepted. I would hate for it to come down to a few missed points on an entrance exam.
  5. Hey Everyone! I was in my biology class last night and my teacher confirmed that Jeff State will be going back to the entrance exam to determine acceptance into the nursing program. I wasn't sure how many people knew yet. It will begin for 2010. It has also been said that they will not accept biology scores that have not been completed within the last 5 years. Any thoughts?
  6. Hey, I can't really help you that much with the pay at St. Vincent's and Brookwood. I am actually considering going to lpn school myself so I have done a little research on the pay and I have came up with $14 is pretty much base rate, not including night shift and things like that. Also, I know for a fact the UAB hospital does not hire lpn's but the Kirklin Clinic does and actually have a few job openings at the moment. Where are you going to school at? I am actually fixing to apply to Jeff State for lpn and plan to go to a mobility program somewhere. If you don't mind me asking, what made you go for lpn first, instead of going straight for RN? I am kind of in a dilemma about whether I am choosing the right thing by going to lpn school first instead of straight for RN. Anyways, Congrats on making it this far. :yeah:Hope I helped you a little bit.
  7. Hey Everyone! I am a pre-nursing student and could desperately use some advice. Just to fill you in I am only 20 and I am a wife and stay at home mother of a soon to be 2 year old. My husband is wonderful but I don't feel as though he is 100% supportive of me going to nursing school because he rather us have another child by the time our son turns 4. My application for nursing school is due May12th and I am having the hardest time choosing between LPN and RN. According to my grades I will most likely be accepted into the LPN program this fall but I will need to take another class this summer and make an A in order to be accepted into an RN program for spring of 2010. So to sum it all up, If I get accepted into the Lpn program this fall, should I go and then go to a mobilty program later? Or should I wait and get my grade up to get into the RN program with the possibilty of having to leave a few semesters because of a pregnancy?? Please help, I need some pros a cons so maybe one option will weigh out the other.
