Hi all, and thanks for reading my post. I'm new to this site, and I'm happy to have found it. I have a question that I hope some of you can answer. I'm looking into applying to nursing schools soon. I understand that some time down the road, there will be a criminal background check. Now, I do not have a criminal record (meaning any convictions), but I do have a concern: A while back, I applied for a California Department of Corrections Peace Officer position. For the application, I had to fill out a detailed, pages and pages long Background Check. On this detailed Background Check, I was perfectly honest (probably should't have been, but that's beside the point), revealing that I have a light to moderate drug use history from the ages of 16 to 21. Now, I have never been convicted of any crime (except speeding tickets), and have always been a good student and worker, and I have a Bachelor's degree from the University of California. However, I am concerned that during the Criminal Background Check that needs to be done to be eligible for registered nursing, this information about prior drug use that I provided to the California Department of Corrections might come up. What do you all think? Should I be worried? Thanks in advance.
