  1. Well, I have always liked the thought of the air force. They will pay for my anesthesia school and pay me a stipend while I am in school. I will enter the AF as a 2nd lut and upon graduating and receiving my cert be an O3 and a captain. I will only have to serve 3 years as a CRNA in the AF and will have that on my resume. I would join after I am accepted to anesthesia school.
  2. What do you mean by a little more freedom in your off time? And what does "that is just military life"? How do they dictate your free time?
  3. I wanted to know if Air Force nurses are deployed very often. I have 3 kids and want one more, but I am seriously considering joining the Air Force after I am accepted to anesthesia school. Can anyone help me out on this one?
  4. I am not a new nurse, I have 11 years experience and plan on trying to get into anesthesia school before joining the AF. I'm not as interested in going to a big hospital as I am trying to stay localized. I already have three kids, so I concerned about the changes associated. I also really just wanted some real perspective instead of just a recruiter's song and dance. I find that when I talk to actual people who have been there versus a recruiter, I can get more accurate info. I wondered about being deployed. Some I have talked to said that nurses don't always get deployed, but others say "yeah right." Any perspective on this? You aren't a recruiter are you? :0)
  5. I have seriously been thinking about joining the Air Force as a BSN, but I am afraid of the unknown. The recruiters tell you what you want to hear to try to get you to join, but I need some real answers from those who have been there, done that. I want to know about how it compares with any other regular job. I also want to know about the commitment.
