  1. In North Carolina, you have to give up your license while you are in treatment, then reapply for a restricted license. Which means, day shift jobs only, nothing after 11pm. You can not pass any type of controlled substance. You have to have another RN working with you at all times. And yes, you have to tell your to be employeer about your addiction. I know this is completely different than other states, but this is how the board of nursing in north carolina have it set up. The restrictions are only for one year. But getting your foot in the door is the most difficult. So working from home is out, working in an office as the only RN is out. Thanks for listening.
  2. I am currently a recovering nurse in North Carolina, and have had over one year of sobriety. Am on the trail of seeking employment, but its been very difficult. No one wants to hire a nurse with a history of addiction. Any suggestions out there? Thanks
