Tips for passing clinical tests?
Thank you for all your responses. I just feel frustrated that she was telling me to "figure it out" and she was giving other students instruction on what to do. I didn't feel that was fair at all. It wasn't that I didn't know what I was doing, I just wasn't sure on how she wanted things. Using my laundry example, in my lab there is no "dirty" area. So when I put it on the side table I made sure I said this is my dirty area. I'm frustrated because I knew that you need to take dirty laundry out of the room but she never would answer me where (when she did to other students after me) so I just took the linen and tried to make it clear that this was the dirty area. I got points off for not taking laundry with me. I feel like she purposely attacked me/made me fail because I was first. Because she vocalized that I was doing it "all wrong, but keep going" so it just snowballed after that.

Tips for passing clinical tests?
I failed my bed making test yesterday and I'm so down. I know how to make a bed, I just broke down. I went first and my instructor gave us no guidance. This was only our second test of the term (first term) and she gave me no instruction on how to test would go. I kept turning to her and asking where things went. For example I had my dirty linens and I said where is the laundry? (there was no saying this is where dirty laundry goes) she just shrugged her shoulders and said you are the nurse. So I put them on a side table and I said this is my dirty area. She said "how many tables to do you have?" and then at the end of the lab she said "you never took your dirty linen out" and I assisted my 'patient' to a chair and then made my unoccupied bed and she said I never talked to my patient, but she never said that my patient was in the room or that I should be talking to her. Like not even during the test she never said that even when she was teaching us. I'm just so frustrated and I don't want to get on her bad side but I feel lost and she isn't giving enough instruction. I feel like a big failure. So, any tips for dealing with this/passing lab tests? **Also I went first so I had assumed that she would give a little instruction, the people who went next benefited from seeing my mistakes! it bothered me so much. ***The next students she told where the dirty laundry area was!!! That bothered me!! It's like she wanted me to fail.

First Year Nursing - Scared of Death
Wow! Thank you all for your support and guidance! I was not expecting such kind words. I am determined to be a nurse because it is something that I feel a strong desire to do. I think you are right, I need to face my anxiety and turn it around. I know it will make me stronger but I'm still terrified to face it. But I know I can do it.

Police Clearances for Ontario
They have changed the requirements (JUST!) now for police clearances, you need to be checked by the RCMP for every school in Ontario. Apparently they are trying to change these requirements (MPs) because there are so many issues because of it.

I have heard that the new requirements make it up to 120 days. That's ridiculous for 155? Did they tell you that they had a hit with someone? Have you done fingerprinting?

First Year Nursing - Scared of Death
Hello! I'm a first year nursing student and I'm scared of death, dying, and deceased persons. I have a phobia, real anxiety when it comes to this and this is making me second guess my career choice. I love doing all the other things associated with learning about nursing, I want to be a nurse but I am scared that I won't be able to deal with this. I have never seen a dead person, not even at a funeral home and I have a overwhelming fear of seeing a dead person or having someone close to me die. I have thought about going to counseling but I don't really know what this anxiety stems from. My teacher told me to think about if this is the right career path for me. It made me really upset because I have worked so hard to get where I am in nursing school. Has anybody dealt with this before? Am I crazy for wanting to still be a nurse? Thank you!

Has anyone heard back from the Ryerson-George Brown collaborative degree program? I'm so anxious to hear back from them.

Pre-Nursing Program @ Ontario Colleges?
Yes! When you log in go to my application (or just application, I forget what it's called) and then "Offers of Admisson" and then you select the application number and it should show your offers of admission. That's also how you can accept an offer. :)

Pre-Nursing Program @ Ontario Colleges?
I got into Niagara College. Which is what I wanted anyways. I don't know that I would have gone to mohawk, other than the relationship with McMaster that they have. I called them and they said either today I would know or the 18th, so I'm glad I found out sooner rather than later. So you have heard from Algonquin? Will you go to St. Lawrence or Loyalist, if you don't happen to get into Algonquin? I'm sure you will though if you go into those other programs. Pre-Nursing is highly competitive. I wouldn't be surprised if it took the month to get back to you.

Hi Maleficent, I just wanted to let you know that I got into the Pre-Health program! I don't know if you were interested or not, but I'm to excited! LOL Good luck to you at college! I hope that we can keep in touch on here and help each other out!

I actually applied at Niagara College and Mohawk College. But they are also highly competitive. I want to do the BScN collaborative degree at Brock! I know it's your last choice, but it's my first. I live around the area. Good luck! Did you send in your marks from highschool? Or mature student application? I read that in competive programs they do the "mark differential" and I believe that's where they will add 10 marks onto your mark if you did the university/college course. So I believe that it's ... 72% would be a 82%. Not really sure though, have you heard this?

I'm applying as well for this program. I also applied for several other programs and have received offers of admission for them; but, I've yet to hear anything back on this program. You said you'd hear back in March? That long?? I'm so anxious. I hope that we both get in!
