Critical thinking in the NCLEX exam will go a long way!
I sat my NCLEX on March 30 (I have been nurse for 13 years in UK but have been an Enterostomal therapy nurse for 10 so no general nursing since then) I have 2 children under the age of 4 and found studying a challenge. Well I passed (computer shut off at 90) but I have to tell you that many of the questions I did not automatically know, but used critical thinking to try to get to the answer. For those of you new to nursing, critical thinking is one of the primary, most important aspects of your practice and you will use it often, well the NCLEX exam is no different, if you use your powers of critical thinking you will succeed. For example, eliminate the questions that you are SURE are not correct then look at the remaining. If its a medication question and you don't know what it is look at the last few letters of the drug, it can sometimes give you a clue as to what class of medication that is from, and then look at the question again for clues. So, to summarize, don't just guess if you don't know the answer, take your time (you have 6 hours!) look at the question, read it twice, use the process of elimination, then look at the remaining and use critical thinking rather than guessing. You will get more of the questions you don't know right this way. Good luck to everyone sitting the NCLEX

Anyone else get cut off before 100?
I think it depends on the questions, are they random or does EVERYONE in EVERY state get the same ones in a 45 day period? I found a lot of "check all that apply" and I find those tough, plus I found some of them hard that asked for which client required IMMEDIATE attention - as I said I have been specialized for 10 years as an ET Nurse and so even meds and stuff are hard for me. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will need to study for the next 45 days in prep for getting my 'fail' notice.

Anyone else get cut off before 100?
I took my test yesterday and it cut me off at 90....and I only knew about 5% of what was on it!!!! I guessed the rest, and when I came home and looked some of the stuff up, I got some right and some wrong of those I could remember!!! I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old and work as a nurse in Canada full time so didn't get TOO much opportunity to study, but of the stuff on it, I had not seen any of it in my revision at all!!!! don't get to find out for 4 weeks as I registered for a license in California. anyone else get cut off before 100?

Pearson Vue's Quick Results???
Ok so the NCLEX quick results service says that candidates in the following jurisdictions can access unofficial results then lists them: now does 'jurisdiction' mean where you SAT your test (at which state the pearson vue center was where you sat the test) OR the state you applied to be licensed in? Because I am sitting in Michigan, but my licensing state is California?? Thanks ps my test is this monday 30th march and I am pretty nervous right now :uhoh21:
