  1. I struggle with this issue as as nurse when it comes to hearing issues. even with normal hearing and listening to patients lung sound especially in my line of work that this could be an issue on top of learning all of the sounds of the body in the first place, adventitious lung sounds etc.
  2. HI, I am starting statistics there in a week. Did you take it online? If so how was it??I'm nervous. It's been a while since I've done math in a school setting. Especially online. Thanks!
  3. I can do math for meds without issue. That is basic, formulation. I need to know the who, what, when and why. In math it's not like that. That is what I mean. I have been taking care of patients for years. It's statistics part of it that throws me off. I have no plan on administrative ever.
  4. Hi All, I am starting Southern New Hampshire University online for my BSN. Unfortunately I have to take Statistics for health care professionals. I'm really nervous. The class is 9 weeks. But I have always struggled with math never mind something like Statistics. Any advice as to how hard it is and any online help site for this type of Statistics course for nurses? Thanks!
  5. Could you possibly resend that martix information. I think I lost it? Thanks so much for your help!
  6. Hi, Do you have a grid you can email me? That would be great! Thanks!!
  7. are there any Massachusetts nurses? I know I spoke with a NICU nurse and they used some type of grid? I didn't quite understand it?
  8. Hi folks, I am doing a presentation on patient to ratio staffing for school. I found a ton of information about it on Massachusetts Nurses Association but I can't find anything on who sets these ratios. Can anyone help me in this area. I am assuming each hospital department sets their own but I am not sure . Thanks!
  9. Your basically in. I am in the evening/weekend program. They may ask you why you want to be a nurse. Why you chose this particular school. It's a wonderful program very challenging so be ready to give up a lot for a short time. They are going to be using the Brunner & Suddarth Medical Surgical book for your first semester they will use Taylor's fundamentals of nursing, Lehne's Pharmacology 7th edition, I suggest you look at those a bit. You'll need about 9 books , a PDA and uniforms so if your working put some $$ aside.
  10. I'm in my second semester at LM/RC, Evening weekend division, it is a wonderful program but it is tough, everyone in the class either works and or has kids etc. it's taylored with that in mind. Good Luck!
  11. Bio, Chem, Algebra, Statistics, Microbiology A & P I , A & P 2. Ethics, Sociology. Some I took online others at Wakefield High. Good Luck!
  12. It will take 4 months. Everyone in my class had the same thing. I applied at the beginning of February and got an email in May to come in for an interview. Once you get the interview your pretty much in. You really need a good essay and references and of course b+ or better in your sciences, except for like high school grades if you haven't been for over 5 years. They really want to see your a good student now. It's a touch program once your in too, but I love it! Good luck!
  13. This is an intense course, it is my first week. They lay everything out for you though. My GPA was 3.8 at acceptance. They won't look at anyone with a C average eventhough the "accept" applications with a C+ or better. :)
  14. I am staring nursing school Monday night and I am really nervous! I am attending Lawrence Memorial Regis College in Medford nights. I have been working towards this day for three years with straight A's, I am married with two kids ages 5 & 7 , I stopped working. What should I expect? Any helpful tips suggestions or helpful supplemental books or websites?? Thanks!!
  15. After I got married I was going to go back to school and got pregnant. I was 26, then I had one more and so I waited for 5 years. Things have a funny way of working out. :)
  16. Awesome, me too. I am taking Micro & Ethics in fall/Evenings. Then my nursing 101 starts January Evenings. Hopefully I'll see you. I will probably be spending a lot of time studying there days & nights. :) Good luck!
  17. How about online? I took Psych,Sociology and algebra online?
  18. They should have let you know by now either way? I would call them! Usually if you get an interview your in, unless it went really badly? I had my interview in April and it only took 4 days to hear back?
  19. It's ok, I am 33 and started my pre req's 2 years ago. I just got accepted this fall. It's never too late! Late 20's is so young! Get back on track as soon as you can. Don't worry about it! :)
  20. Hi, I was accepted evenings Spring 2010. I was told it is easier to get into night?? I applied in January and was accepted two months later with a choice of Fall or Spring, so there might be room. People also back out last minute sometimes due to money and/or committment. You have to get your financial aid done now, even if you not yet accepted, that is what I did. You can go online to FAFSA and get the school code from LMRC. Good luck. Make sure everything is in your packet or it will hold up your application.
  21. I was accepted to the January 2010 because I have Microbiology left and had a choice to either take it this summer or in the Fall because it has to be done before you start Nur 101. I decided to take the summer off to be with my kids. Anyway, the staff are great at answering questions and setting you up for school. I will let you know how it goes. I am starting evenings. Good luck with your decision. It's a great path to take.
  22. Some people want things to happen, some people wish things will happen ans some people make things happen-Michael Jordan
  23. Hi Irish mommy, I just recently got into the night/weekend program. Here's all I can tell you. You need very good grades in all the sciences and math especially A & P. I have all A's ,they do say you can apply with a c+ or better but are really looking for an 85 average or better for grades. I also do volunteer work for the hospital and my Church. I took extra classes like Medical Terminology which I found helpful in my A & P classes. I wrote a truthful and strong essay. I already work in the hospital. I got three references, two from my job and one from my Anatomy & Physiology teacher. Good Luck and if this is really for you ,you'll do well!
