  1. That's too bad. I would think they would want all the information possible out there. What is the program chair like? So far ours has been really helpful. She even met with me privately over the summer and went through my other school's transcripts to tell me what they would (unofficially) take, etc. She gave me tons of information. I just wish I would've known more things to ask her then. Unless I find out otherwise, I'm just going to staple my transcripts together, then paper-clip everything together, and put it in a manila envelope. If I find out anything else different, I'll post it here, but it sounds like Indy's program is a little different then ours.
  2. Melissa, I understand completely! I would HATE not getting accepted because I made a small error on my application. I'm going to be a nervous wreck waiting until the end of May.... One other thing: Here in Evansville, they give us a nursing adviser after we complete the orientation session. Do they not do that elsewhere?
  3. That's very interesting about the transcripts. The cover letter on the nursing application I picked up from the nursing office (in Evansville) says, "These can be unofficial copies". Also, in my nursing session, they never mentioned bringing new transcipts to the office in order to have this semester's grades counted. I wonder if maybe I should talk with my advisor just to make sure I don't screw any of this up.
  4. all4Him7, I would think 206 points should get you accepted. I've got all my prereq.'s done, but am retaking Eng 111 to try and get an A. If I pull off an A in the class, I will have 213 points. Otherwise, I will only have 203. Since 202 points was the lowest accepted score last semester, I'm going to try like crazy to get an A in this English class. Good luck to you!
  5. Hi all4Him7. I'm applying in Evansville too. Take this for what it's worth, but a person in one of my classes said he heard 50 for this fall. I also heard that it may drop to 40 because about 10 students may not finish on time. In my orientation session, the program chair would not give us a number. She would only say it could range from 40 to 80 spots depending on how many graduate. She did tell us the point totals for the spring 2009 class were 202 thru 215. How did you do on your teas? Good luck and you're right: the end of May is going to seem like forever!
  6. In addition to the ratios, proportions, and percentages mentioned, I had one question where you needed to use the pythagorean theorm (the a²+b²=c² equation). Also know your inches to centimenters, ounces to gallons, and lbs to kilograms. Best of luck to you!
  7. Great job Lennonninja! One question though: is it always the same test the second time you take it?
  8. Hi everyone, I'll be turning in my application for the ASN program before long. I just wanted to ask if anyone knew of any common mistakes people make on their applications. The last thing I want to do is get rejected because I made a mistake on my application. In my orientation session last October, the application itself wasn't really covered. We were mostly told about completing the requirements necessary to apply for the program. I know that transcripts from all schools attended and the teas score have to be included. Is there anything else? The application seems pretty simple. I just want to make ABSOLUTELY sure I don't screw it up! Thanks in advance & best of luck to everyone applying!
  9. Thanks MasonsMommy! I was happy with my score, but one of my friends thinks I should take it again to see if I can improve my score. I told her she was crazy. I've got 3 A's in my prereq's + my 90. I'm carrying an A in my last prereq. right now. At the very worst, I'll get a B. We also get 3 points for living in the region we are applying. So I'm looking at 213 if I get an A, or 203 if I get a B. If I can't get in with those points, then I suppose it wasn't meant to be. My cousin, who has worked her way up from an LPN to an FNP-C, said to apply for both RN and LPN programs. Surely with my scores, one of the two programs will accept me. samulation: Good luck with your next attempt. Some of the English threw me on the test too. The scrolling up and down on the reading and English sections was really annoying! I don't know about your test, but my English section had an overkill of correct comma usage. Anyway, best of luck to you.
  10. Hi everyone. I'm new to this site, but just thought I'd give my input on the TEAS. I took it yesterday for the first time and got a 90% overall. I'm happy with that and don't think I'm going to take it again. I highly recommend taking the online practice test through ATI, even though its $30. It really let me know what areas I needed to study. I used a combination of the ATI study guide and the Kaplan book to help me prepare. I think it was worth the effort. Also, does anyone know what kind of point totals it takes to get into Ivy Tech's RN program? They were a bit reluctant to tell us this in our mandatory orientation/information session.
