  1. I am looking into getting my DNP. I wanted to do some research before I decided which route to take. My two contenders are Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner...or their is a dual route Adult Care Nurse Practioner/Family Nurse Practitioner route. I love the hospital setting, but I also like the clinic setting. I live in a rural area right now and their seems like more of a need for FNP vs ACNP. I also like the idea of being autononmous in my decisions. Here is what I am looking for comments about: 1) Role of ACNP/FNP, where they work, how independent are each, etc. 2) Although money not everything, it IS important to me. Which makes more generally? 3) Just any insight to being either one of these APNs
  2. hello all, i am a new grad rn with asn and licensure. i am having a very difficult time trying to find a job in the west tennessee area. what hospital may be more open to new grads??
  3. hello, i am a new grad rn who just passed boards. i worked as a cna for a year and a half during school. i was an intern in an icu at a larger hospital for 6 months, but am no longer eligible to work as an intern and there are no openings in the icu, which is not a problem bc i dont think icu is for me. i have had several interviews, 1 coronary stepdown, 1 cardiac step down and 1 er (all in the same hospital), but cant seem to seal the deal? the interviews seem to go well, i am honest, open, and positive, but i never hear back. one thing that is against me is that i am 19. but does this really make me percieved as unable to do the job i have been trained to do? what am i doing wrong? it is very disconcerning. also i have applied to several other hospitals but cant even get an interview! i have a job offer in a doctor's office, but i want to work in the hospital atleast for a year to get my basic experience down, plus i love the hospital! anyone have any advice for me?? thanks!
  4. Union University in Jackson, TN has a great accelerated BSN program. You must have a bachelors in any area, and it only takes 1 year to complete. Im not sure about the prereqs, but Union is a private university so it does cost. No more than vandy tho. I work with several people who went through it and said it was worth it.
  5. CNAs cannot pass out meds. I am currently a PCA which is the same as a CNA except I didnt take a class for it, but with the certification I think you will make a couple more dollars an hour.
  6. i think i am the youngest nurse. i will graduate when im 19 from an ASN program in may 2010!
