  1. I called Aultman Hosp upon reading your posting regarding the pass rate. I personally spoke to the director of nursing. Currently, Aultman has 100% passing rate for the state board! The state DID NOT come in and shut down their accelerated program! Aultman is upgrading their curriculum from a diploma to an associate degree program. This new program will be in affect next year, and while they are upgrading this program, they cannot have an accelarated program until the upgrade has been completed which will be 2005.
  2. :balloons: :rotfl: I JUST RECEIVED A LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE FROM AULTMAN HOSPITAL SCHOOL OF NURSING! I BEGIN AUGUST 2004!!! THIS IS A SHOCK SINCE I WAS TURNED DOWN LAST SPRING! I PLAN ON GOING BACK TO UNIV OF AKRON TO GET MY BSN UPON COMPLETION OF THE DIPLOMA. I HAVE ALL MY PRE-REQ'S AND CO-REQ'S COMPLETED SO I CAN JUMP RIGHT INTO NURSING COURSES. ANY ADVICE??? CAN SOMEONE TELL ME EXACTLY HOW DIFFICULT THE NURSING COURSES ARE? I'M STARTING TO GET A LITTLE NERVOUS NOW. I HAVE 4 CHILDREN (7 YRS; 5 YRS; 4 YRS; 2 YRS). I HOPE I CAN HANDLE THIS!!!!! I ALSO WORK AT AKRON GENERAL MED CENTER IN THE STERILE PROC DEPT ON THE WEEKENDS. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY DO NOT HIRE 2-YR RN'S! OH WELL.....THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER HOSPITALS OUT THERE THAT DO!!
  3. I really need your expert advice! I have to make a decision for Fall 2005. I have been accepted to Stark State in Canton for the class of 2007(which classes will begin Fall of 2005). Stark offers a 2-year RN degree. ALSO, I will be eligible for admission into The University of Akron College of Nursing in Fall 2005. This program is a BSN--which will take me 3 years (fulltime) to complete. My question is....should I remain at Univ of Akron and go ahead and put one more year in to receive a BSN in nursing or should I go ahead and attend Stark State and finish w/ an associate's degree in nursing(which will only take 2 years fulltime)???? I have heard that RN's w/ a BSN and ADN both make the same starting wages. Is that true in our area in northeast Ohio? I work at Akron General Medical Center and they ONLY hire RN's w/ a BSN. I just don't want to rack up more student loans! I also have 4 children and I want to make the best decision w/ them in mind! YOUR COMMENTS AND ADVICE ARE EXTREMELY CRUCIAL FOR MY DECISION IN THIS MATTER! Thank you.
  4. I am absolutely devastated! I have been attending the Univ of Akron parttime for about 2 years now. I wanted to become an RN sooner than 4 years, so I decided to apply to a couple of two-year degree RN programs. I thought I would get a 2-yr RN degree then go back to Univ of Akron and go thru their RN to BSN program which would only take 1 year to complete. I applied to Stark State College and Aultman School of Nursing in Canton. I was accepted into Stark's nursing program but for the class of 2007! I can't wait that long! Aultman called me back last month stating that I had scored very high on their nursing entrance exam and they wanted to interview me for the upcoming nursing program that begins in January. I was so excited! The interview went well--at least that's what I thought. They even sent me a letter to take their 4-hour CPR class--I completed that a couple of weeks ago. I just received a letter from them saying that I was NOT ACCEPTED into their nursing program! I was absolutely devastated. I cried like a baby for 2 hours! I just cannot understand why I wasn't accepted! I have a gradepoint average of 3.8; I have all of my pre-req's and co-req's completed; I also work at a hospital in Akron. I am a very compassionate person and I know I would make a really good nurse! I called Aultman and asked the lady what I did wrong. She said I didn't do anything wrong. She said all candidates were closely reviewed. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT KIND OF CANDIDATES THEY LOOK FOR? My credentials, references, and acedemic background are exceptional! I can't understand why I did not get accepted! I am feeling so disappointed right now. PS please excuse any misspelled words--I didn't see a spell check to click on!

She said the "panel" has to look at each candidate very closely to decide who gets accepted. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT KIND OF CANDIDATES THEY LOOK FOR? MY CREDENTIALS WERE SO GOOD AND MY ACADEMIC BACKGROUND WAS AWESOME! I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY I DID NOT GET ACCEPTED. I am feeling so disappointed right now.
