  1. Hi, everyone! I am currently finishing a Bachelor's Degree in Biology (with a Health Professions concentration) and have decided that I would like to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I know that there are several entry-level MSN programs but some of them do not have a Pediatric NP specialty or even a NP post-grad certification program (CNS or something similar). I am wondering, can I choose any entry-level MSN program and then get post-grad certification somewhere that offers my speciality? Thank you so much!
  2. I passed the CNA state registry exam at the end of July 2009. I was planning on working as a CNA while going through school (not nursing school), but I realized that right now I do not have the time and I just need to focus on my studies. I do however want to work as a CNA this summer or possibly next year during the school year. However, for some reason I remember someone saying that you need to find a job in the first six months in order to stay on the registry. When looked on the registry, I saw that my license will expire in July 2011. Is that if I am working as a CNA? If I don't find a job by december, does that mean I need to take the class again?!
  3. Hello, everyone... This may be a very strange question to ask, but I promise that answering it will really help my decision making. I had originally applied to a 4-year college with the intention of going to medical school. After two years, I decided that maybe nursing would be a better option for me. I have already been accepted into nursing school, but I am already having some doubts about whether I should stick to what I had originally intended or attend nursing school. My decision is not just based on "feeling", but I won't bore you with the details. Here is my question: what are things that you do/encounter/experience on a regular basis that you believe someone should know about before entering this field? I'm not talking about the obvious (i.e. blood, needles, etc.), but other aspects of which not everyone is aware. They may be things that you are fine with (and maybe even enjoy) but might not be for other people. In other words, could you fill in the blank? You should NOT become a nurse if _________________. Thanks so much!
