  1. Thanks so much! My head is spinning lol...I love the nursing field, I just need to get my act together and study! Thanks again, good luck to you on becoming an RN. :)
  2. I graduated in January, I have yet to take the boards, I wanted to study a little more but I'm so lost! We had a review, an instructor gave us an outline of how to study but then the director said it was too long...and she gave us another way of how study! Has anyone recently taken the nclex-pn, and if so what should I focus on? Thanks. :)
  3. Yeah if they don't want to help you then believe in yourself. I know it's sounds easier said then done, but if you really want this you can do it. Just stayed focus and don't let anyone tell you no! Don't give up keep researching and you will find all the answers you need. I had no one to help me. I'm finishing the LVN program in Dec. then I will work for a year and bridge into an RN program. It's tough but if you really want it, it can happen. =)
  4. i agree with you having family members as nurses would give you an advantage...seems like they are not interested in helping you, that's sucks since they would be the most knowledgeable. yeah everyone is saying you have to do it yourself but come on if they are nurses already they should want to answer your questions, give you tips on what to do...i'm in the lvn program, my goal is to reach rn level but it's hard to look and get questions answered. i always try to talk to as many nurses as i can to see what their story was and how they became a nurse. it inspires me not to give up because this industry is tough...i'm not an rn but i can help you with some questions if you have any =) good luck!
  5. actually i've done all this already, i've done an assessment, i've determined his medical problems, i'm working on his plan of care, i've done patient teaching, i wasn't given much, it's a case study. i'm not working with an actual person. our instructor gave us two case studies to work on. we have to use the information we were given and come up with our own. i'm almost with this one but the other one is harder. this is my third time working on a case study so it's all new to me. i really appreciate the time you're taking out to help me understand this better.
  6. lol sorry yes I was asking both of those questions...even now the school I'm attending, they are so picky. I think it's a good thing to make me work hard so I can get a lil feel for nursing. I will plan to work for a year just to do the same, learn how to admister meds.
  7. Thanks this has been very helpful.
  8. Yes my plan is to keep going and my final stop would be to become a Public Health Nurse...I love how you can work with the public to not only help them get healthy but also help them out in other aspects. I was wondering though in terms of being on the floor as an RN was it easier for you in school having that extra exprience as an LPN?
  9. Thanks for your help, my problem is, that this is a case study given to me as a final for my medsurg class. I have to use the information I was given and come up with the answers...the patient has lost 35 lbs. and cannot tolerate much food due to the constriction in his lungs as he trys to eat and breath at the same time.
  10. Thanks, nice to meet you too =) My plan is to work a year after I finish the LVN program then focus on RN, go back to school and do it! Did becoming an LPN make the RN program easier for you?
  11. I agree if you do get accepted to an RN program do it. I was on many waiting lists, so I decided to do the LVN program in the mean time so I can keep learning and not loose it all...and it's at my pace so it works for me...good luck!
  12. I'm new to this site, I've seen this site many times when doing research and finally decided to join. I'm currently in an LVN program. I have a B.S. in Health Science/Community Education from Cal-State Eastbay. I just found that the LVN program worked for me, eventually I will do the RN program.
  13. I have a questioned I'm doing a case study on COPD my patient has Emphysema and has been smoking for 25 + years. For a COPDder how do I Identify four strategies that might improve his caloric intake? This is his history: Patient D.Z. has a past medical history of hypertension and a diagnosis of pneumonia yearly for the past 3 years. His admitting diagnosis is COPD chronic emphysema with an acute exacerbation. He is experiencing shortness of breath and reported a cough that is productive with thick yellow-green sputum. He has trouble sleeping at night. He has lost 35 lbs and is retired. Thanks. :wink2:
