Thanks a lot for your input guys. I do have a visa, a work permit, and a social security #, all i need now is a job! I will try the state board of nursing in Texas and see what they can tell me. Fingers crossed!

Hi everyone, This is my first post and I would be very greatful if anyone could give me any information or advice please. I am an English registered nurse who has just taken the CGFNS exam for foreign nurses and am waiting for the results before i can take the NCLEX exam to get a Texas nurses license. My question is, do you think that it would be possible for me to apply for a certified nursing assistant job while i am waiting for my texas nursing license? I have been on the internet searching for nursing assistant jobs and all that comes up is Certified nursing assistant jobs. Do you think employers would take into consideration that i was a qualified nurse of 2 years in England and before my nurses's training, i was a nursing assistant for 2 years and that i hold a current nursing license for the UK. Or do you think they will insist on a certificate obtained here in the U.S. before they would even consider hiring me. I am very frustrated at the moment because i want to work and am able to work, but keep coming up against all sorts of obstacles! Your input and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Xina.
