  1. Just found out i passed with 75 questions!! What a huge relief, i must have dong better than i thought on the NCLEX, i felt like i knew nothing coming out of there. Good luck to everyone who recently took the exam, and those who will take in soon!
  2. I took the NCLEX yesterday (7/7) as well...got 75 questions and just found out today that I PASSED!! Check with you state licensing website and look up you own name to see if there is a license # by it. I haven't received my results yet from the quick results line, but was able to find my name, license #, and it stated active registered nurse by it. Called and confirmed with the state that i was indeed licensed and the license was in the mail!! Good luck to you!
  3. i know exactly how you feel, i took the nclex today as well. i feel worse now than i did going into it, major anxiety over whether or not i passed. the computer shut off at 75 questions for me and i freaked out i think it would have been better to have more questions to give me more of a chance. although, i am trying to be optimistic. everyone so far that i graduated with that had 75 questions has passed...best of luck to you!!
  4. Are you working in Indiana? What part of Indiana, that sounds like quite a bit of money!! I haven't heard of that high of pay in the Lafayette/Indy area unless it is agency. Sounds enticing!
  5. Sounds just like the situation our facility is in! Nurses are frustrated and looking elsewhere for jobs. I have a problem with team nursing as many times you are not aware of all aspects of teh patients care, especially when you are the med nurse, someone else is doing the assessment, talking to the docs, and taking off new orders so when the MD approaches you and asks how the patient is doing you must first find your team member before giving the MD the full picture of what is going on, makes me feel incompetant at times. Also, charting is a problem only one nurse has the charting available to him/her, so many late entries are made and it looks unprofessional, and is not logical. When I started this job, primary nursing was in place and i felt as if we functioned as a team then, but with our own patients. If someone needed help, you gave it! If you had questions, you asked other nurses, our patients were well cared for and there were less errors!! I think those who have implemented team nursing should come work the floor for a few days!!!
  6. thanks for the info! How many hours did you spend in clinical, is it something you have to do every week? Also, did they accept all the prereqs you did elsewhere?
  7. Anyone go through the online program at Indiana Wesleyan? Sounds like it requires one night a week of classroom, and about 40 hours clinical total. Not sure about papers, assignments, etc. Please let me know if anyone is currently enrolled or has graduated from there
  8. We have one RN, one LPN for about 10-12 patients, usually only have one CNA so they are helping with 20-24 or sometimes 30 patients. I work on a busy med-surg/oncology floor, we used to do primary nursing with a 1:5 ratio, and it seemed to work just fine, we were always helping others if they needed it, we always worked as a "team", but didnt have to chart on everyone, only our five patients. From what i understand our facility is going to team nursing because they believe there will be a nurse in the patients room more frequently. My experience, there may be someone in there, but they are not as familiar with the patient's status, past medical hx, or new orders or changes in condition, as they have 10 other patients to worry about, and the charting is not always in front of them. Also, the RN is responsibe for checking, and signing off on orders so they LPN or medication nurse is not always aware of what is going on until later. Maybe this will work out when we have more of a system in place, as I said before i think computer charting would greatly benefit us!
  9. Thanks for all your thoughts, sounds like computer charting might help, i doubt the hospital will spring for that any time soon. It is very frustrating right now while we are going through the change, hopefully it all works out in the end for the patients' sake, as many of us are feeling like we have not been able to give the best care in a team nursing setting and have stayed over trying to complete charting on 11 or 12 patients. We'll see how it goes!
  10. Anyone have any helpful hints for team nursing. Our hospital is now changing to team nursing and we are having a difficult time adjusting. How many patients has anyone had on one team as well as how many nurses. We have tried two nurses for 10-11 patients and it is hard for both nurses to chart on the same chart without having to make late enties, etc. Any help is appreciated!!

  12. Our hospital has recently decided to go to "team nursing" on all medical-surgical floors. I was interested if anyone else is participating in this type of patient care. Any helpful hints, I have found that it is taking some getting used to!
