CPNE this weekend 7-27 to 7-29
Thank you to everyone for all of their suggestions and good luck wishes. I feel really good about this weekend. I really feel that it could not have come at a better time. One of the best things I have done for myself is taking advantage of the phone consultations you are able to get with the school. Some of the instructios I have talked to have passed on a few good tips and made sure to stress the tips they were passing on. I am leaving tomorrow - thursday - at noon to get up there. I have been told going up the night before is one of the best thigs you can do for yourself. I will let you know how it all goes. Keep good thoughts for this weekend. Marie

CPNE this weekend 7-27 to 7-29
Hello all I am taking my CPNE this weekend - Any last minute advice or helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. I know my grid almost like the back of my hand. I get stuck and then am able to remember shortly after. I have been taking advantage of the phone consultations and have been e-mailing the CPNEinfo instructor. Thanks everyone. Marie

Fundraising ideas???
Call local entertainers and see if they can donate their time and talent for nursing students. Most of them will either do it for free or for a low cost. See if the school can give you the theater for a low fee if not free. You can sell tickets for as low as $10 and make a great deal of money

What to expect from CNA courses...
I have been a CNA for the past 3 years and love it. I chose to do this route to see if nursing was for me, it is. When I became a CNA it was a 6 month course - 3 weeks is cutting it short. You will learn the basics of nursing, patient care and how to help the patient take care of their activities of daily living (assisting with bathing, brushing teeth, eating, etc.) If you are a people person, this is the job for you. Good Luck. Marie

Thought I would like nursing...now I don't know
This post has been very helpful for me. Almost 1 month ago I was unsuccessful for the 2nd time in the lecture portion of my nursing program. The school I was at was not encouraging or willing to help at all. I have thought several times about throwing in the towel, even though this is something I love doing. I have been a CNA for the past 3 years and know the rewards of nursing. Because I am a poor test-taker, I have feared I might not reach my dream of becoming a nurse. This post has given me back my desire to prove that school wrong. I have gone to another school and put my name on their waiting list. That school has accepted the credits for the year I have already put in, leaving me with only 1 more year to go. I hope to get in this fall. Someone once told me that in nursing school the instructors "eat their young". You would think that this would not occur because one day they might be our patient.
