Weary, Need Guidance
I need help in determining what to do with my career. I went to LPN school and failed my Fundamentals and repeated. And then second module failed Med-Surg. I had problems retaining information and not doing well on my test. So, my insurance didn't cover for me to go to a psychologist to see if I had learning disabilities. I paid out of pocket. My son has auditory processing disorder and I thought I might have it too because i had similar symptoms and it's hereditary. It turns out to be I did too but also another learning diability also comes with that and he couldn't definitively tell me what since it wasn't a full in depth eval. So, I rushed and went to another LPN school since the other school wouldn't take me back til a year after. I told them about my learning disabilities and the director just said let your professors know. i ended up repeating A&P here because they wouldn't except my credits. Well, that didn't do much for me. they didn't give me any accomodations and no help. I did everything on my own, I had an excellent student help me with A & P with is what I was struggling with. Couple days ago I learned that I passed all my courses except A&P by 1 point. They said they would notify me if I couldn't come back and continue next module. I came in after 2 day break no one ever contacted me and pulled me out of class to tell me I couldn't continue. i tried to fight it but they wouldn't let me go. I don't know if I should appeal and report what they did to me. It's the infamous Lincoln Technical. I'm destroyed, heart broken. I have been trying to pursue becoming a nurse for years. I have taken most of my RN prereqs at a community college for 2 years. Couldn't get in there due to my GPA being low so decided to do LPN and then bridge. I had gone back to my neurologist stating I couldn't concentrate during last week in finals so he thinks I have ADD along with the other disorder and just put me on Adderal. I don't know if this will help and if I should continue my dream or give up. I know I can do this just need accomodations and maybe this med will help me. I can't have anybody tell me I can't do it. I'm cofused and weary. I pray so much and tried so hard and now I'm back to step 1 again. I would need to repeat A&P for 2,500 in late Oct or go back to community college take more prereqs, boost GPA and do math algebra which I'm not great at to get into RN program there with accomadations and on meds. Don't know what to do. Or maybe choose another medical profession, not sure. But this is what I truely want to do and can't seem to reach my goal. Sorry it's so long but it's a long story and thanks for whoever reads it and takes time out for some input : (

Hi, I'm Celi. I have most of my pre-reqs for RN and will be doing my last class there Psy 205 in spring there. They told me that I had to at least take one class to get a high GPA and get the invitation letter from Trinitas. I was wondering how long did it take for you to get in? Any, info you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

I need to get through Med Surg
So, I failed Gerentology and repeated and went on to Med-Surg. I can't afford to fail twice and I really need to get my career started. So, I have been working so hard that I don't know what to do anymore. I took my Oncology and Cardiac and failed miserably last week. I was so disappointed and upset. I felt like a failure. But, I have been recording my instructor in lecture, read my chapters, do study groups and do NCLEX questions, and go to extra help and do my workbook. I spend so much time studying that I don't know what else to do. Someone please help me out. I'm in a hole right now and have 5 more exams to score high. Any suggestions, tips, websites, books, anything? I will do what ever it takes. I also have alot of faith and pray. i feel so disappointed at myself now. Please anyone let me know how I can make it. Thanks

It's ok, you can email me which is my user and send it to yahoo.com. We can chat more privately there. But, if you read my threads I will be starting in the day. But, not til April because I need to go in and take this test next week. So, up the street from Target is a Boston Market which is healthier for you and there's also a diner across the street from the store too. You have to drive a little down more though. So, take care and good luck with the baby. Talk to you soon.

Lol, and that's all we think about when were pregnant. I will take your advice. LPN bridge to RN is the same amount of time. It's just easier to get into. So, is your name Star? I'm Celi by the way, which is my user name.

Hi, thanks for the info. Wow, your amazing to do everything that you do. But, it's all about will power and support, your right. Well, about the LPN to RN, the Hackensack site as of now won't have the bridge to RN only the Ramsey site does. I spoke to Chris there the Admissions Coordinator and I asked him the same thing and he said you can go right into it. I will have to confirm that but I have other options where I can just go right into it anyways. The Rockland County Community College and it's cheaper. I met someone there recently when I went to inquire that did the same thing and was a student there. I will also be getting my BSN but want to work for a hospital 1st and get them to pay for it and do the accelarated program which is an extra year and not 2. I have big plans. I just can't wait till all is said and done. I will be tremendously applying myself to achieve my dream. Thanks.

Hey, I'm so glad that your giving me all this info. I'm reviewing for the test this whole week. I'm going next week to take it. I don't know if I would still be able to get into the January program though. And yes she told me about the fee $250 but I didn't know for orientation you had to bring another $250. Wow! I'll make sure to see what my score is before I exit. i have 2 kids and I already know this is going to be hard so I put my mind on it that will completely apply myself to this program. I really want to bridge to RN right afterwards when the program comes out, but I can't wait to get into the field. I have the NET Guide, it's a good little book. Thanks for the offer though. I hope I can start in April, I'd like to start ASAP. Well, I appreciate all of your input. Give me your email so we can exchange numbers and talk sometime and meet when I get there. Thanks.

LPN at HoHoKus school at ramsey
Hi, thanks for the response. I'm kind of nervous because I thought it was a big test, they said it's the NET test and I took at Holy Name which was 3 hours and it was hard. I failed that one. I was suppose to take the test this week but cancelled because I felt like I wouldn't be ready. I'm good in English but with Math, it's hard for me. I know basic but when it comes down to Algebra it's hard. I would be attending the Day. I wanted to start the now at the end of January but might have to do it in April which is the next program. The coordinator there made it seem like it wasn't hard at all so I thought I'd ask. Maybe I should just go take it and chance it. But, she said if I fail I'd have to wait 4 months to retake it? So, you think everybody makes it? It's not as hard as it seems. Thanks for the info. I look forward to meeting you in the near future when I start. Let me know.

Hi, since all of you attended Hohokus, I have a question. I'm entering into the LPN program in April and would like to know how the NET test is? I have the book to study but am anxious since I failed it once somewhere else. What suggestions or advice can anyone give me to be successful? I really need to definitely pass this test so I can get started with my career. Thanks.

What can I do to get in RN program?
Hi, my name is Celi. I'm new to the community. I live in NNJ. I'm in need of some help. I don't know what to do so I decided to join here and see if I can get some input. I've been a student at Community College for 2 years plus trying to get my pre-requisites. I have completed most of them by next semester. Just have have Math left. I have had some problems in some material Math, Chemistry and Microbiology which I've failed and had to take over. Im a mother of 2 children, work out of home, and take 14 credits in school which is very hard . This has brought my GPA down and I'm having some trouble finding a school because they all require a GPA of 3.0 and higher. I took the NET test at a hospital I was transferring to for the RN and failed it. I'm a medical assistant and love the medical field. It's my passion and my dream. And I will not give up. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do? I was thinking of just getting my Associates degree and then just enter the RN program but it would take me an extra year to do that. Or maybe doing the LPN program bridge to Rn which is the same amount of time. But I woukd have to take the NET test again and make sure I pass this time. Does anyone know something I don't? Any suggestions woukd be appreciated. Thanks.
