  1. continuity for the patient, you get to follow through on your plan of care, less time in report, only 3 days per week... just get your own rhythm for how many days in a row you can handle. On nights I prefered 3 in row, then I could get on a regular schedule the rest of the days with my family. Good Luck and keep an open mind...always.
  2. Looking for some numbers, NHPPD or nurse patient ratios. It may vary greatly, depending on the type of unit. My hospital is a community one(located just outside a major city), 15 bed peds unit, teaching hospital, peds hospitalists are in attending. Our acuity can vary, mostly with the seasons: summer brings elective surgeries, traumas. Winter and spring: RSV, rota virus, RAD etc. Please include any ancillary help you have too (secretary, techs etc.) Thanks
