RV advice
Thanks again. Good advice. I've been traveling for about a year and a half now. I do have a tax home, but I'm in the process of selling. I plan on buying another home near my family in a different state and do my traveling from there. I've got a lot of advice from traveltax - great site. I plan to have them do my taxes this year. It was very stressful and confusing doing my taxes last year being a new traveler. This year, I had forms from Traveltax to use throughout the year to organize my expenses which makes tax time so much easier. It was hard to get advice being a newbie, so I hope other new travelers read your post and are able to use the info to start a smart legal travel career.

RV advice
Hello. I am a traveling hemodialysis nurse. I am considering purchasing a RV for travel. Have no clue what I need. I've done some research and know I want a tow trailer. I'm looking for advice on what the best type of tow vehicle is and any recommendations for brands of travel trailers. Also, can a RV be considered a tax home or written off in any way come tax time. Any advice you can share will be appreciated as I don't even know enough about owning a RV to know what questions to ask. Yes, I have stayed extended periods of time in a friends RV, so I know that I like the whole concept and lifestyle. Thanks for any feedback.

Tax time, any pointers?
It's almost a year since your post and it's tax time again. I am in the same place you were last year. This will be my first year filing a return as a travel nurse and I am hesitant to sign up with an online "traveltax" company. I am curious as to how things worked out for you. Any advice you or any readers have on finding a reputable company will be appreciated. Thanks, Cryptic12

epo managers
:wink2:Thank you all for your responses. Being new to this position, I have no experience to pull from, so all comments are very much appreciated. Eight hours just hasn't seemed to be enough time to accomplish the task and do it well in such a large clinic. I look forward to more opinions.

epo managers
:)Our company has recently created an epo manager position. If anyone is doing or has done this job, could you please tell me how much time is involved each week, how many patients you are responsible for, and what the job entails. We are a clinic of approximately 200 patients. We adjust epogen weekly (per epo algorithm), change the orders via computer, document changes in nurses notes, and write MD orders for changes not per algorithm. On a monthy basis, we also add ferritin/venofer changes to the mix. Thanks for any info.

Fresenius starting pay
acutes are generally in a hospital. Starting pay in Springfield, MA is around 28.00 - 30.00/hr. Good luck Monday. I hope it is what you are looking for.

Fresenius starting pay
At our facility it is generally 12 hour days with some on call. The hours vary depending on the census. You generally know how many patients you will have the night before and call the hospital to arrange a treatment time. Some nurses like to start very early - 5am. Some start as late as 9am. As long as you work your 12 hour shift it is usually a little flexible. Of course on call times vary, but I think you have 2-3 hours to arrive after you get a call. Hope that helps. Which facility are you applying to?

Help! Is this a good deal
Just signed up with a new travel company ( first time traveling) They are offering pay not less than 31.00/hr, depending on area. Housing up to 1400.00/month, depending on the area (if I find cheaper housing on my own, the balance can be paid to me in higher wages or in a tax free stipend), 250.00/wk in meals and incidentals. Travel expenses paid 1/2 at start of assignment and 1/2 at end of assignment. Free health insurance, although it sucks (they are getting a new plan) PTO of 3.08 hrs/wk based on a 36 hr week. 100% reimbursement for nsg license. Help paying for rental car if needed(not sure of the terms) This all sounds good to me, but since It is my first travel assignment, I don't know if this is a typical, great, or a poor offer??? I need advice from experienced travelers. Also, as I will receive a 1099 for any tax free income, can I claim this at the end of the year or do I have to do quarterly taxes. I will maintain my permanent house if that matters. Thanks to all, this site has been a life saver for educating myself on this endeavor.

First travel assignment - Texas
Re: First travel assignment - Texas Thank you so much for the research sites. I too have been researching for a few years and I "think" I am finally ready. Some of the sites you've mentioned are new to me and I will certainly check them out. I live in MA and the last snow storm made me think TX... Now I am reconsidering my original plan of staying driving distance from home for my first assignment until I get a little experience under my belt. What made you choose the Carolinas and where are you from? I will certainly update you on my adventure and hope you will do the same. Good luck on your assignment
