  1. That is great!! You are giving me hope. I just spoke with the PCD again recently and I'm hoping to get called in for a second interview as well. Congrats!
  2. That's wonderful! Congratulations!
  3. Since they hire on a rolling basis, it seems like they want to have an abundance of candidates to consider when there are openings. It's unfortunate for us because there's no guarantee that we will ever be called back to fill the spots before the next round of candidates is interviewed.
  4. They do typical blood work to check your titers and a drug screen. I don't believe they checked hemoglobin A1C or LFT's.
  5. Mine hasn't changed. I'm concerned that it means we are not with the group who has been selected.
  6. But does yours say future consideration under the meet and greet only? I'm noticing a lot of ppl may have future consideration for the meet and greet, but then have a separate line for a staff nurse posting. Is that the case for you? I'm still holding on to hope lol because it went so well with the PCD that I can't believe I didn't get a call.
  7. Yes mine has. I believe that means we will not be getting into the residency based off of posts I've read in the past...unfortunately.
  8. Yes it's possible. It might be difficult because the market is extremely competitive and oversaturated, even for LTC. It doesn't hurt to try though.
  9. Most likely they will. There are several new grad events every year. You just have to check their website on a regular basis because they will pull down the posting after a set amount of time.
  10. I believe they are 2 separate opportunities and that AMN is through an outside agency. Yes, we should definitely keep each other posted. I'm sure everyone is anxious and hoping for any type of updates. I can say that I know of 1 person who received a phone call and offer already. I can't say which unit though because then I would out myself lol. I can say it is not one of the most sought after units and she has a connection with the hospital, so that may be why she got an offer so soon.
  11. Part of me was hoping that the ones who got the e-mail were chosen out of the many who had gone to the meet and greet, but now I don't think that's the case lol
  12. Same here. I filled out the secondary application. I was told by PCDs that they have limited positions right now, but are conducting interviews so that they can fill spots as they become available. I believe that's why they stated in the e-mail that they hire on a rolling basis. I'm wondering if everyone who attended the meet and greet got that e-mail.
  13. Yes I see! Very exciting to be moving on in the process.
  14. Were you at the New Grad event on 1/20? If so, how did it go for you?
  15. Oh ok I see. I guess u just didn't have to go through the same process. The meet and greet was last week and it seems that u were able to bypass the meet and greet and go straight to the interview. Either way, that's great for you. Good luck on your interview!
  16. Do u have prior experience? If so, that's why. Experienced nurses can apply to any open Staff Nurse position. If you don't have experience, then you got lucky and somehow bypassed the residency program.
  17. Is this a follow-up interview after the meet and greet? My tip is to try and remember a few patients who u provided care to who stood out. Also, be prepared to answer the general nursing questions. I don't believe they have told anyone which hospital they are going to yet. Has anyone had any change to their status yet on the website? Mine still says interview.
  18. Oh ok. I was told something different so I'm not sure. Many people in the past have been offered positions after the meet and greet. I didn't hear anything about a 2nd interview. I guess we will see.
  19. It will be extremely difficult for your daughter to land a per-diem job as a new graduate. Per-diem positions are almost always reserved for experienced nurses. There is limited orientation for those positions and they want to be able to successfully place you wherever there is a need, which requires at least 1-2 years of experience working in the acute care setting. You will notice that these postings typically say "Minimum 1-2 years of experience preferred/required." Your daughter would be better off trying to land a part-time or full-time staff nurse position and later one changing her schedule to per-diem once she has gained experience.
  20. Hi everyone! There are so many topics on the NYP Meet and Greets that I figured I would start one specifically for the meet and greet that was yesterday (1/20/16). Did anyone attend? Did anyone feel that they did well or receive any verbal offers? I did very well on my interviews with the Patient Care Directors, but bombed the interview with the Talent Acquisition Specialist. For some reason I stumbled over her questions and felt that I didn't answer them all to the best of my ability. I am hoping that the successful interviews with the PCDs will help me to land a position. I was informed that they will be opening positions on the unit according to the number of qualified candidates that they want to hire from the meet and greet. I figured we can all share information in here about where we are in the post-interview process.
  21. Hi Pochacco. I appreciate the recommendation. Not too long ago, I looked into that program and noticed that it states you cannot have work experience as an RN. Since I've been working as an RN for NYC DOHMH, I'm disqualified. I really wish I would've known about it prior to accepting my current job because I truly want to work in a hospital. I'm just going to keep applying to hospitals and hope for the best. I'm getting ready to start a 2nd job in pediatric home care next week, and I'm hoping that will also make me look more appealing to hospitals. I want to work in peds.
  22. This is a very old post but I was finally able to land a job for the NYC Department of Health as a school nurse. However, I still yearn to work in the hospital in peds. Recently, I've started to apply again to hospital positions with my limited experience in school nursing (which I'm told doesn't count for much unfortunately). And yes, Montefiore is actually 5 min. from my house, as well as Jacobi. I've yet to be called for an interview even though I have applied online A LOT. Something's gotta give soon.
