Hi, I have completed about 80 hours of undergraduate hours, but I am now looking at Associates/RN programs in San Antonio. I think I've taken any possible pre-reqs for any of the programs (A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology, Nutrition, Psyc courses, English, etc)-- except maybe Chemistry. I am very confused as to which one I'd have a better shot at getting into: Galen, San Antonio College, St. Phillip's or Baptist. I'd rather apply to an associate's degree program (than a bachelor's) because I don't know if my grades are competitive enough for bachelors/RN right now. I know Galen has high tuition, but admits twice as often as the other ones. I know that Baptist is hospital based (which I really like the idea of). Really, any advice anyone could give me about the selectivity of each of these programs, reviews, personal experience, etc. Thanks so much! Alana

HNhoang, Thank you so much for providing that much detail for me. I actually applied to TWU earlier this week (general application) because they told me I'd need to do that 3-6 months prior to the nursing program deadline (Sept. 1 for Spring semester). You have really shed some light on things for me. I'm still going to apply to both UT and TWU, but UT really is my preference. I'm hoping that after this spring semester, my GPA will be a 3.6 and then up even more after summer. Hopefully, that will increase my chances. Best of luck to you and thanks again!!

I am planning on applying to UT and TWU by Sept. 1 for their programs starting Spring 2010 (still have to take CHEM this summer). I prefer UT, but I have heard it's so much harder to get into. Right now, my overall GPA is a 3.5 and my science GPA is a 3.2, but after this spring semester, I think both will be higher. Does anyone have any advice? I don't work in the health care field, so I know I'm at a disadvantage there.

I am considering applying to HCC's evening program for nursing. Does anyone know if it is part time or full time and if the clinicals are available on the weekends?
