Charity no longer offers night classes, but they do have night clinicals.

I'm finishing up my 1st year at Charity. As far as Christmas break we are done the 1st week of December and start back up mid-January.

I got mine in January right before classes started, but December is good. You want it to cover the entire 2 years so you don't have to go get recertified in the middle of everything else that is going on.

You will need to be certified before starting in January. It's good to have the certification cover the entire 2 years you will be at Charity.

they're usually pretty cool with not being finished before with the hep b series before classes start as long as you've had the 2nd shot. I know of people who had to get a titer because they weren't finished with the series before the semester started. I spoke with the school about it and didn't have to get a titer because my 3rd dose was administered 2 weeks before the semester started. You all still have plenty of time to get the health requirements done. Just make sure the meet all deadlines with the school and always get something in writing if they say it is okay past the Nov 2nd deadline or any deadline for that matter.

I'm about to start my 2nd semester and when I was going thru all the health requirements I had everything done before I went for advising. At advising my advisor told me that I should wait on getting the PPD test until that December. If you have any questions contact the person over health (can't say names on here). She is also over the evening division, so she is a pretty busy woman. Email her or try to stop in and see her. Getting someone on the phone at Charity is almost impossible to do! Good luck!

There is no 1 year rule between applying and starting. Sometimes that is the soonest you can get in. Every semester they have people who get accepted and choose not to go, freeing up some spots. It is not uncommon for them to call someone and tell them that they can start a semester earlier. I would take the spot. Congrats and welcome to Charity!!!!

You need to take A&P I lab before applying. THey like to see you finish the 1st sequence of A&P. Class hours vary from course to course. The 1st 2 semesters you're only off one day a week. You have clinicals the 1st semester 2 days a week the first half of the semester and then every other week the second half of the semester. 2nd semester you have clinicals 2 days a week every week. It's tough, but well worth it!

For my first semester at Charity I took evening classes. The clinicals are every other week and start at 3:30pm and end at 9:45pm. I worked during the semester, averaging about 32 hours a week. It's not impossible to go to school full time and work, but like the post above said it takes a lot of hard work and a ton of organizing to get through it. My brother finished at Charity a few years ago and worked full time the entire way through, so it can definitely be done!

I took a course similar to MATH 120 and it was pretty easy, so I'd take that one. Don't know anything about the other course, so definitely go with 120. As far as GPA, they look at cumulative GPA and the GPA for the pre-reqs. So, if you do good in your pre-reqs you will have a high GPA for pre-reqs and it will bring the cumulative up as well. Sometimes people don't get in on their 1st try, but they usually get in the 2nd time around. Just don't give up before you even try!!!! I have not heard of people having problems getting a job. I'm not worrying about it because nurses are in such high demand everywhere that you can pretty much go anywhere and be able to find a job. As far as hospitals paying back your loans, I haven't really looked into that yet, but most places have a sign on bonus (the amount varies from hospital to hospital) if you agree to work there for a certain length of time. That could be a bad thing as you may wind up not liking that particular hospital.

If you could tell me the course titles on the math classes I may be able to help you. I took my math classes at LSU when I got my 1st degree. It is true that the profile score changes from semester to semester. I can assure you that they do not shuffle the applications and pull them out of a hat. I believe they have a set # of seats each semester and just go down the list based on profile score. I don't know what the list looks like, but I know that they just don't randomly do things.

The 230 was just for the spring class. From what they say, that's pretty average. I took A&P labs at delgado on the westbank and they were extremely easy, just a ton of memorizing! I think that if you could bring your gpa up a little more while taking the pre-reqs your chances will be better to get in. I think your main concern should be the classes that you are currently going to take. Stressing over something that is a few semesters away will not help you now. The TEAS test was like the ACT/SAT test. I bought a study book, but never used it and got an 89.1% on my first try. If you're nervous about taking that, then get a study book and review until you feel comfortable enough to take it. I was done with A&P I lab and lecture before I took the TEAS and applied. They like to see you done with A&P I lab and lecture before they will consider you. Just relax and take it one class at a time! Good luck!

It's not based solely on GPA, so yes some people with a 4.0 will get in and some won't. Don't stress. If you go to the Charity site, there should be info on what they base things on. Definitely try to bring your GPA up while taking the pre-reqs. In my experience, I took the A&P labs on the westbank and they were by far easier than at City Park. I just finished my first semester and we started off with around 230 students and right before finals we were down to around 190. It's tough, but it's worth it! As far as Charity goes, the best thing to do is go in to speak to someone. It is next to near impossible to get in touch with them via email or phone. As far as the pre-nursing advisor, I never saw or met the person. I just took everything into my own hands, used the Charity site and went in a few times. Hope this helps, good luck!
