Hi! Your right, alot can change in a year especially now that the school is accepting financial aid. There will be alot more applicants. But thanks for the confirmation Paul, I thought that was what it said. I should have asked in orientation if they could go through the contract and point out all of the changes, that way the entire class could have questioned it, but oh well, hind sight is 20/20.

Hi! Hope everyone had a good Christmas. I didn't get my books yet but I was wondering if anyone received a copy of the new enrollment agreement that we signed in the orientation? If not, what's taking so long. Besides the obvious price increase I think there was a change to the first paragraph where they omitted the level one and level two combination. If I remember correctly, they only gave us a choice of level one or level two in the new enrollment agreement with a statement that we may go on to level two if space allows. (this statement isn't in my original agreement) I didn't have my original enrollment agreement to compare while we were in orientation so I have been waiting patiently for the new one to come in the mail. This wouldn't affect anyone who is going for their LPN but it might make a difference to those of us who want to go onto RN. There may or may not be a waiting period by the time we finish the LPN portion. Unfortunately I signed the agreement where it stated that "I have received a copy of this agreement" (but of course we didn't at that time). So if you received your copy could you please let me know if I am remembering this correctly? Thanks and hope you have a good New Year!

Hi, Sorry I didn't get to meet the two of you but I didn't know who to look for. I'm sure we'll catch up in our classes. I was hoping to get our student handbook in the orientation so we could get a heads up but it looks like we have to wait until we go to class. I printed off the 2008 catalog from the Hondros website to get an idea of their grading scales etc., but there may be some changes for 2009. Cincy guy, I didn't get my books either but I will probably call the school next week to see if they are in. Talk to ya later!

Hi lpntorn, Did they say why they hated it? Did they get there PN at another school or did they get it at Hondros? Sorry to ask so many questions but I haven't seen any threads on allnurses for students in the RN program and apparently you know some people that attended. Thanks!

I know the deadline was yesterday to submit the documents but I don't know how strict they are about that. It took about a week for me to receive my coverage document through the mail, but the school will probably accept a receipt of purchase that you can have emailed to you if you call the company (or it might be available on the web-site if you used the site recommended by the school which is how I got my receipt). If you call the school about the schedule, they can probably clear any concerns you have.

I'm a little nervous too, but I'm sure it will all work out. It is exciting!!!

I also just wanted to mention that if you go to the student portal and go under the "Document Tracking" menu, it should show you all of the docs. that you have submitted and what is left for you to give them. You have to check the box "show all documents". The completion date is basically your receipt the the document was submitted. If you submitted something and it is not showing a completion date, I would call the school and verify that it is in your folder. This happened to me and the document was in my folder but not updated on the system. I asked them to update the system ASAP. When I was finished giving the school all of my documents, I printed the page off and kept as a record (just in case).

Hi Paul, You can register for all your classes right now if you go on the "student portal". I just completed registering for all of my classes. If you don't have all of your documents turned in, the system may not let you do it (but I doubt it). The instructions on how to do it are located on the "home" page. The classes are filled on "first come, first serve basis" and there were just a few seats left for the class NUR 110 Clin Cin-A.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that rule. I did read that students have to pass the math component to Nursing 110 with at least a grade of 90% or they are unable to continue with their nursing courses. Do you remember if that was difficult? It's been a long time since I was in school so I couldn't believe that a 77.9 or less gives you an "F"!

that would be great..thanks! based on my information session with the school, they have a 90% pass rate for the nclex (pn) which i think is pretty good (of course there is room for improvement...100% would be awesome). i don't think there was any info. on the pass rates for the rn because the class just recently graduated or will soon be graduating. i later found out however, that the school has a 75% completion/graduation rate. i don't know if that is because the classes are very difficult (which i am certain they are!!) or what. so, when you combine these two numbers (depending on how you look at it) about 65% of the students graduate and pass the nclex the first time around.

I was wondering the same thing so I hear ya! It's a tough decision, especially when there is such a process to go through to get admitted into nursing school. I'm confused too.

Also, my financial award information has posted asking to "accept" or "decline". It's coming down to the wire!

There is a statement on the enrollment agreement that says they could increase the price of books, fees etc. and will try to give a 90 day notice if possible. If you go on the portal, they are wanting us to register for classes but there is a problem with the system right now so we can't do it.

Thanks for your honesty Tim & sorry about your exam. I remember those hurricane force winds that came through our area. It was horrible. I was afraid of hearing something like this about the school. Clinicals are so important to the training process and I'm disappointed to hear all of the problems the school is encountering with that aspect. I too chose the school for the same reason that you did - no waiting list. But ultimately, getting a good education is the most important reason in chosing a school since you will be dealing with life and death situations. There are new nursing programs cropping up everywhere (I guess alot of schools are trying to get a piece of the pie as far as the shortage of nurses and lack of educational facilities vs. prospective nursing students) and it is a difficult decision for those of us that want to become a nurse. Do you know if past graduates of the RN program are finding it difficult to find a job (especially in a hospital)? Thanks again for your post.

I have enrolled in Hondros for January also and received a pre-conditional acceptance letter. I still had some things that needed to be turned in which I have since completed but I still haven't received a full acceptance letter. I had the same concern as you and the colleges that were mentioned are "University of Phoenix" and Chamberlain College of Columbus". There was another one but I can't read my own writing.

Hi! This is my first post and it's really exciting!!:) I'm a second career person and quit my job to pursue nursing because it is something I have always wanted to do. It's really difficult choosing a school but I don't have time to be put on a waiting list for 2-3 years for schools like Raymond Walters or Cincinnati State (although they are accredited by all the right people). To get into "The Great Oaks" program you need to be a certified nurses aid so the only places that I've been looking at are private schools like Hondros, Galen and Brown Mackie. Given the fact that these school have no wait lists their tuition costs average over 200 dollars a credit hour. I've been seriously considering Hondros but I was wondering if anyone in the Cincinnati area is attending there or considering on attending there and what their experiences have been or if they recommend it. Considering the costs of these private schools, I'm hoping the money is worth it. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
