bad reference cost me a job
yes my lawyer did send a cease & desist letter, with orders to contact every place that they gave me a bad reference to, admit it was wrong, and a demand for proof of this, otherwise, there would be further legal action on my part, it should never have happened to begin with, 21 years of good nursing and a good rep. and the new don has something personal against me, and i'm thrown under the bus, backstabbers in nursng are so hard to deal with

bad reference cost me a job
i worked in a facility for over 20 years and than a lowlife don started there, we had a personality confilict, and she terminated me, i cannot leave out 20 years of my career off my resume, i was told before i left that they would only give out my date of hire and last day of employment, not true, i have been unhired by every job that hired me, apparently after a negative reference, even my lawyer said that anyone could conclude that if i worked at the same facility for over 20 years, trained other nurses, without any problems until this don came along, that it was personal. i dont know what to do, this situation is terrible

Turned down for job because it is a magnet hospital?
i recently had high hopes and a good reccomendation for a job at a cardiac hospital, i went through the interview process, but at the next step, the nurse recruiter said it was a "magnet hospital" and they had reached their quota of r.n.'s with a.s. degrees and could only hire r.n.'s with b.s. degrees to maintain their magnet status, i know a little bit about the highly regarded magnet status, but was this a plausible reason to turn me down for a job? thanks for any replies:cry:

i am a 53 y/o rn with 21 years of experience in ltc as a charge nurse and the past year as a supervisor, i started a new job as a7-3 staff rn to avoid the headaches of supervisor, my md had started me on toprol xl for htn to be taken in the am. the job had a computerized med system called sigma, no one trained me for the use of the computer ,on my 8th day, they assigned me to an am med pass of 40 residents, it was horrible, i wasn't orientated to that particular unit previously, had no idea of where the rooms numbers were, some residents didnt have wrist id's, and i did not know how to do med administraion with a laptop computer instead of a regular mar book, it took me 3 hours to do the med pass, i didn't know how to put accuchecks or b/p's in the computer, i sat at the nurses station and plugged the laptop in to go over the med pass i had just done, and just stated to the lpn, "it feels good to sit down" at 2:30 i was called into the office by the don and adon to terminate me, they said i yawned too much, and was reported as saying, "oh god, after that 3 hour med pass, it feels good to sit down" i explained to them i had just started on toprol xl for htn, and admitted it made me feel tired for a few hours after taking it, and i would switch it to taking it at nite instead, i had already asked the don for the teaching code password so i could teach my self the computerized med system at home, but they never gave it to me, they said they couldnt tolerate a nurse yawning at the desk, and that they had so many other younger applicants for the job and were letting me go, i asked them if i could keep the job and offered to go to my cardioligist for a clean bill of health, and they said no, i also had found out previously that i was hired so they could fire an rn who caled in sick a lot but had many friends there, i am still in shock and devestated about this

they wont supply a security guard, i did hear that they had narcs missing in the other building, so this is the way the new don thinks he can control it better, i did leave a voice mail with him that am, that it was my day off and i had personal things to attend to (also to give him time to cool off, and perhaps seek sane advice) and will meet him thurs. 2 pm

Dangerous narc delivery by rn
i just started as a 3-11 rn supv @ a LTC that has a new DON, the place is 2 buildings seperated by a gas station, on a busy road, near a bar, group homes, & the occasional street drug deal. the pharmacy would deliver narcs & meds to each building, now the don wants tighter control of narcs, and has pharmacy deliver all to my building, where i log in the narcs, double lock them, but i do not feel safe transporting narcs by myself to the other building, the pharmacy guy also thinks this is stupid and is willing to continue delivering to both buildings, but the DON says no, the other nite i called the male lpn in the other building to come and get his meds and narcs as i did not feel safe, he said ok, but never came by, i left the narcs double locked with the 11-7 rn, a few minutes later, i got a call on my cell phone from the don, yelling at me that i did not complete my duty, that the lpn & 11-7 rn reported me, and i prevented a patient from getting her morphine that the lpn needed, and he wanted me in his office at 8 am the next day (my day off) i cant believe this, what should i do ????

Delivering narcotics to outside buildings should i be responsible?
i recently started a 3-11pm rn supv. job at a ltcf that has 2 buildings seperated by a gas station, on a main road, with nearby bar, group homes, homeless people and the occasional street drug deals, the pharmacy always made 2 seperate deliverys of meds and narcs to each building, now, the new don (1st time as a don) wants my building to be the only delivery building, and after i log in all the narcs, expects me to take the other buildings narcs over there late at night by myself, i asked the male nurse in the other building to pick up the narcs as i did not feel safe and he didnt and reported me for not delivering the morphine he needed for a patient, so now the don wants to fire me for failure to fulfill my duty and leaving a patient without pain meds. the pharmacy delivery person offered to continue delivering narcs to both buildings but the don refused, i do not feel that i should put my life at risk:cry:
