New and Curious RE: ADN Program at GPC
Hi MecoInGa- I graduated from GPC's ADN program. I thought it was a tough program, good but tough! I thought that I was very well prepared for my boards- I passed with the minimum # of questions. In fact, the boards were a piece of cake compared to some of my tests in nursing school. My graduating class had a 100% pass rate. Yes, a lot of people drop out, but these are people who barely made it into the program, (i.e., scraping by in the pre-reqs with low C's). If you really want to make it and you study hard you will be fine. Best of luck to you. :)

Medication Errors
Where I work we still use carbon copies. It is so hard to read some of the Dr's handwriting- there must be a seperate major in college for that, LOL!

Nurses marrying doctors
I am married to an MD, and so far so good. Thankfully, he is a dermatologist so he does not have those long hours as most other MD's. I think we have the same problems as everyone else, but as far as I am concerned we are pretty happy. I was married to my husband before I became a nurse, of course it helped me a lot having an MD at home going through nursing school. I live in a small city and the medical community is very close so I have met a lot of doctors here and many of them do have wives who are RN's and very few continue to work after they have had their children. When I tell people that I do work I usually get "But your husband is a doctor, why don't you just stay at home"? Believe it or not a professor asked me that once!!!

Medication question
I am a new grad and I actually saw this question several times on tests and on the NCLEX. The answer should be verifying that the kiddo has urinated. I think everyone knows this now, judging by all the replies- I just thought I would add in my 2 cents.:)

Med Calc Exam
I agree with esrun-a! You should pass your med calc exam with 100%. When I was in nursing school you had to pass with 100%. Think about it, don't you want to give your patients the right medication 100% of the time and not 80% of the time (especially with meds like insulin)? Good luck on your test.:)
