I'm a unit manager at a 120 bed rehad/long term care facility. We are having overtime and staffing problems. I think a positive solution to out problem might be to move to a schedule where my nurses might work three twelves and an eight. does anyone have a template that would work using 14 nurses a day?

I am a new R.N. of 10 months. I currently am employed a sub acute rehab faciltity for the last 6 weeks and worked long term care before that. I fee as though I can not retain anything because I just am not given enough time to think about what it is that I am doing. I have been offered a position as a unit manager at my current facility and just do not think that i am either qualified or ready to take on this task. My DON believes that I am a great fit for the job because it is a more business oriented position than it is nursing......I have never had a great deal of confidence in myself and feel like i'm in a fog all the time andjust can't retain what is happening around me becuase of the pace the job. I am responsible for giving meds doing treatments and admitting new patients on a 20 bed hallway........ I guess I just need talked off the ledge!!!!!

I'm an older guy (43) and I find myself learning testing and forgetting evrything after i move on to the next test. I am a solid B student....I now have 9 weeks to go and am going into patient management tomorrow. i'm freaking out because i can't even remember the most basic of things and i have to manage care of 6 patients.... does anyone else have this problem? what can i do to help myself get through this? what about the nclex exam i have to take......HELP!!!!!

I'm a nursing student in my final semester in Pittsburgh PA. Can anyone PLEASE give me a real indication of what wages and opportunities are around Jacksonville and what is the best way to get there as quickly as possible when I get out? I have been on salarywiz.com and it says the mean wage for an RN is aroound $60,000.00 per year.
