The question that I have is that since it will change to a Doctorate, will the rate of pay increase as well?

Actually, I am going to do it. For now, I'm going to study more content and learn what Kaplan has for test taking strategies. What was your experience with Kaplan like? I've had to coworkers talk very highly of them and even credit them with helping them pass the NCLEX on their first try.

Do a search for it on Amazon.com and buy it. I actually got my copy from eBay at a discounted rate. Good luck!

Wow! Thanks to everyone for your encouragement! I really appreciate it. I currently work as an ER Tech and have done this work for the past 3 years, so I am working now. As a matter of fact, I'm working a LOT now. we really need to catch up on some things financially and I want to get presents for my kids for Christmas. Was really expecting Christmas to be so great this year... Anyway... The next Kaplan review isn't until January in my area and I'm planning to take that and possibly the online NCSBN review as well. I'm going to pass it next time. But, wow, thanks a lot. I REALLY appreciate the encouragement. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

I know it's not technically that long ago, but it feels like forever. Still really considering the Kaplan review. I just gotta pass.

Debbie, Yeah, I've seen that and may still do it, but I really feel that I do best with hands on training. I'll spend some more time considering my options, but I really feel that I may need another review because of the time that I've been out of school. I just hope that I'm not forgetting anything! Of course, the NCLEX makes you feel that you didn't learn anything in the first place!

Debbie, Actually, I found out that it's just 45 days, but I may give myself some more time to study for it. I'm seriously considering the Kaplan review right now. I work with a guy that did the Hurst review for his first NCLEX, failed after 130 questions, then took the Kaplan review and passed after 75 questions. He was telling me about the differences that he had with each review and how the Kaplan was the one that prepared him much better for the NCLEX. I also have someone that may be willing to pay for it and I need to check out their guarantee/refund policy in the meantime.

I'm giving some serious thought to taking the Kaplan review. What do you guys think?

I never used the Kaplan book. Do you feel that it wasn't helpful for you? Have you tried the NCSBN review course? I plan to try that myself. I'm also going to use Suzanne's plan to help me.

Thanks for THAT tip! I HATED the Endocrine portions of the program with a passion. None of the teachers could ever explain it in a way that made sense. I never even got a good understanding of it all until I took the Hurst review and then the light bulb went off in my head! I think that the only questions that I had on the NCLEX about Endocrine were some priority questions about diabetes, come to think of it...

Yep, I was in class with some of these. They had no idea which end of the IV to stick with but could pass all of the tests! And I'm the opposite. Tests aren't my strong point at all, but I'm great in the clinical setting; no classmates could beat me. But I still need to get the test done so I can move on with my life like the OP has done here.

Thanks! So is Kaplan completely online or is it a class that you attend for a week? Would you be willing to tell me how much it is? I understand if you don't want to. I'm DEFINITELY going to look into that! I do like Saunders, but I kind of feel the same as you. Maybe Suzanne's plan will help me to see more of what the Saunder's book has to offer. Break?! What's that?:wink2: Ok...maybe for a day or two...hehe...

Thanks for the suggestion. I think that I'm going to do that. I'm about 1/4 of the way through doing her first step before I need to PM her. I'll finish that up this month and try to contact her.

Well, I did a different one for each test, ya know? I liked the Hurst review because it really explained some concepts to me that I had a hard time with in nursing school, but it didn't prepare me for the NCLEX. I like testing online as well. Feels more like the test to me. I had a few questions on this last test where I didn't think any of the answers were wrong! I was so frustrated. Thanks! I'll be needing it!
