Pharmacology & Dosage Calc Tests - What did you have to know?
Hi, I start my first semester of the RN program in January. I was told that we will have a dosage calculation exam and a pharmacology exam in the first couple of weeks. We have to pass both exams with a 100 % or we cannot proceed in the program. I was wondering for those already in nursing programs, what type of things did you have to know on your pharmacology and dosage calc exams? I would like to prepare myself ahead of time.

Feeling worthless over bad exam experience
first, let me say that my perfectionist nature has been a problem all of my life. i always want to do things perfectly and be the best. but in the end, that does more harm to my own psychological and physical state than a bad grade could ever do. i took my third exam in a & p ii today and i did poorly. basically i was reading the questions too literally and not expanding on the answers enough. and to make matters worse, i knew the material. but i have a tendency to read too much into something and make a mistake, so i erred on the side of restraint for the first time and it was the wrong time to do so. that is the kick in the pants. now, i feel awful. i want to cry, yell, scream. i wish i could turn back the clock and retake the exam. the problem is that i don't see this as normal behavior. i should not be crying over test grades and letting them determine my worth. i am scared that going into the nursing program there will be times when a test grade may get the best of me but i will need to persevere and move forward or i will be left behind. there will be no time to feel sorry for myself and throw a pity party. i really need tips from self-proclaimed perfectionists like myself on how to get over it and use this opportunity as a learning experience. how do you get through it without falling apart?

Overwhelmed and Scared
Hello All! I am currently taking A & P II and Pharmacology this semester and I am starting to wonder if my brain can hold any more information. These are my last two classes that I can take while waiting for my invitation in the RN program, and I am to a point that I feel like my brain is purging information that I learned in earlier classes to make room for the new stuff. This is so bad. I am generally an A student, so I did well in the previous classes but I don't think that I can remember everything. And my pharmacology class is just a joke. It is online and very intimidating, very little teacher interaction and lots of homework that I really don't get. I basically look up the answers in my drug reference guide and the text and I get good marks on the assignments but I am not retaining/learning anything. And the quizes are online too which leads to me checking my work and looking up the right answers, which makes me feel like a big fat cheater! How am I going to make it in the nursing program when my memory is on sabbatical Very frustrating Any advice appreciated. Gabesmomma
