I'm looking to get become an LPN, and I'm looking to get it in 1 year. I wouldn't mind getting an BSN or an Associates. I already have a B.S. in psychology from Brooklyn college, but i have a really weak GPA (2.4) I made the mistake of trying to take a class i failed 3 times failing each time which hurt me significantly (Art of all things...) . My Major GPA is 2.9. I have taken Organic Chem © General Chemistry (B) Anatomy (A) Physiology © Statistics (D) Microbiology (D) Cell Biology (B) Most of my psych classes are A's and B's. With those grades considered, which schools should i be applying to? Keep in mind that i am willing to retake statistics and micro biology over again in the spring if i have to and start nursing in the summer or fall. Also, the degree doesn't matter for now. I'm looking to just finish something in a year and start making money. The reason i ask is, my GPA is keeping me from applying to accelerated BSN programs, so i thought i'd get an associates or RN first but am unsure which schools i should be looking at. Tuition isn't a problem, neither is relocation upstate. I looked into College of Staten Island and Kingsborough CC, but they both require you take some core prerequisite courses before you start the the nursing classes despite having a strong educational background. So does anyone know any schools that have programs that i can apply to now without strict requirements that are set in stone, starts next summer/fall, is accredited, and can be done in a year? Also, is there a huge pay difference between someone with an LPN, LPN + Associates degree in nursing and LPN + BS degree ? Thanks in advance, i look forward to your input and help
