Yeah, mine was also void of any speciality notice. I'm pretty sure we will either learn more in the acceptance packet or after we matriculate!

Thanks for the info. I am taking ANat 1/2, Chem and Micro over the summer. I looked at salem but they dont seem to have a summer session...unless i didnt look in the right place? I was thinking of doing those CCC Online courses but I need to apply to one of the colleges. We'll see, I'm trying to make it as cheap and easy as possible! I am an undergrad in FL atm, studying languages, I am literally going from commencement to the airport to Boston for summer classes. Blech! I am from NJ though. I honestly couldn't believe BC accepted me with NO pre-reqs (except 2 Anthro: Linguistics/Forensics, Stat) What about you? What was your major/when did you graduate? I'm hoping coming straight from school will keep me in study mode! Ha, we'll see! And deel dree to ask away, this is all SO exciting.

That's the spirit, it really will be worth it and you all sound very supportive so we will have a hard time of it, sometimes, but we'll make it through! And football, don't get me started...I was lucky enough to snatch seats to the Superbowl in Tampa this year (I go to school in St. Pete, 30 minutes south of the stadium) an it was the best day of my life, after my acceptance into BC of course. Yep, we'll just have to figure out ways to de-stress together! How do you like Regis, Molly? Where exactly in Boston is it?

Great! I'll be seeing you in September Caitlin, maybe even over the summer during those pre-reqs! And I'm Jenn, mine was due the 17th and I just sent it out today, can't wait to get the packet. THanks for the advice and sharing your experience BCgradnurse. I've never been one to have a crazy night life but I sure do enjoy my free time and traveling a lot. I knew I would have to cut back on the weekend trips, I'll just have to remember "just two years" I also will be living 15 minutes outside of BC by T Train and will not be working during the semester. I really respect that you worked and had quite the commute and managed to make it through, well done! I will just have to enjoy every second of free time I have now because I think it ends with this semester! Caitlin, any idea to when colleges begin posting their summer schedules? I've never taken a summer class so I'm not too sure what is normal.

I did the same and am hoping its that 5 week chunk as well! It shouldn't be too bad though, I've heard Regis moves at a good pace and isn't overwhelming, especially at 2 times a week which is a nice break from other schools which do M-Th (NYU, BHCC) in the mornings! Now we just have to contact the teacher and ask if we can jump in without the first half of the class! Are you sending in your deposit/accepting BC, MNGirl?

Oh, MNGirl, If you are looking for Chem, like I said above, Regis College offers a 2x per week chem course, and you only have to take 102. This is acceptable by BC, though I personally am still waiting for them to announce the summer schedule.

Just letting you guys know, I spoke to Maureen and she said we only need Chem. 102 and often enough, if you mention the program, the teachers will allow you to only take 102! So, that class from CCC Online and the one at Regis are both acceptable! Whoo! I also just that acceptance letter and answer form, nothing else comes until you send the deposit in, or so I believe.

Well thanks for the information! I believe it is worth the hard two years we will be facing and we'll just have to stick with it. How do you go about "finding" your own NP clinical sites? And if I may ask, what did you take for the Life Sci Chem/Orgo class? Again, thanks for the info, it gives a little bit of insight into the program!

Oh you visited campus today?! Isn't it amazing! I visited in Fall as well, just before i applied, and I was stunned and left seriously hoping I would be able to get in, the wait was torture! I didn't visit the nursing building, what's it like and where exactly on campus is it? Let me know what you do for orgo btw, we may end up being classmates! And i agree with the compet. edge thing, BC will surely help you there. Good luck on Yale, too, suga! Though i hope you choose BC!

Oo, California, eh? I lived in Laguna Beach for a year with my parents. Beautiful town, but I'm more of an East Coaster. Well, from what i've heard is that the reason ours is so short is because we are in hospital by the third week! We finish the RN portion and are ready to take the NCLEX by the end of Summer of year one and then we have the option to go part time. I am not sure if Columbia goes through summer, if not, that explains our short finish time. It's not that it's hard, exactly, it's just competitive and graduating from BC sure makes us competitive applicants. I don't anticipate a really huge problem, to be honest. The job market for nurses is actually pretty strong so I wouldn't worry! We will cross that bridge when we graduate! Have you visited either Columbia or BC? And don't worry, we're hear to help you through your decision!

I e-mailed Maureen this morning to see what she thinks about those classes, I mean, they ARE meant for allied health and nursing professionals, so...I sure hope they're acceptable. Which classes do you need to take again, suga? I plan on taking Anat/Phys and Chem (if acceptable, fingers crossed) at Regis and Micro. either at BHCC or BC Summer Session. And RooneyFan, I totally forgot to answer your question! I didn't apply to Columbia due to the summer start and BC's accelerated program was just what I was looking for. I mean, two years and we'll be NPs! That's amazing. It is a lot of hard work but I think if you are 100% devoted to the subject and don't leave your room and stop studying, heh, i think we'll be okay! But yes, BC has a great reputation in nursing and the class size is more along the lins of what I am used to. They really pay attention to the student and you don't get lost as you might in a huge program. The Boston hospitals are crazy competitive as well and I've been told that a lot of nursing students at BC have been picked up by the hospitals they worked at whilst in school. And then there's the campus...just gorgeous and the amounf of resources available to you are just staggering! All in all the program is just great and really, reallly prepares you to be an NP! Congrats again Rooneyfan!

Also, just to continue with questions, do you guys think Intro to Chem is acceptable if it involves BioChem and Orgo? This sounds acceptable, n'est-ce pas? Topics include organic nomenclature, organic functional groups and their properties, isomers, and biologically important molecules and their roles in the human body.

Hey there! Welcome and Congratulations! I'm so excited for we three! What was that website suga? I can't seem to find it. Is it through a University? Have you called BC? I was going to today but didn't make the call before 5pm so i hit an answering machine. I plan on living in the Back Bay area or outside of Beacon Hill. One of my friends might come live with me as she is applying to a job at the local Aquarium. I really can't wait to get to go into nursing, I have been involved with hospitals for quite some time and have been an EMT for two years. I only applied to BC and MGH IHP. And wow, congrats to you both for getting into Columbia, WHOO! Honestly, Boston is wayyy cooler, the city is wonderful and the campus is beautiful. Also, I bought two of teh readers for our future classes and it looks great and not so difficult When are you planning on going up to BC? Oooh, I forgot about Salem. I actually have to take Anat/Phys and Chem. AND microbio. I'm in the process of figuring out just how I'll do that but I am sure can make it happen. Regis' Micro and Anat don't conflict so I just need to find the Chem. Tufts also has Micro. w/o needing pre-reqs so that, atm, is my choice as it fits with my sched. I was thinking about doing the same and calling BC to ask what exctly is acceptable. Online classes, I believe, are not because they require a lab! I'm from New Jersey and went to Eckerd College! I definitley plan on living in Boston rather than doing graduate housing. I am actually here in Boston right now :icon_roll We are going to stop by a realtor and the campus to help finalie my decision. I as estatic when I found out i was accepted.I really can't wait but am a little nervous about those pre-reqs, especially being a Modern languages major (German, French, Spanish, Japanese). Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any advice or ideas to what exactly this course is (or what BC is looking for exactly) and where you know of in the Boston area that offers this particular brand of Chemistry: Life Science Chemistry w/Lab or Organic Chemistry w/Lab General Chemistry will not be accepted I understand the Orgo. part, but Life Sci. Chem? I need to start finding places that offer these courses and Bunker Hill currently does not. Any ideas or, have you have to take this over the summer in Boston as well? If so, where? Well the first batch of Boston College letters are out and I can't believe it but I GOT IN! Just to encourage all of your out there who was dreading about the GRE, I got a 1030 and BC saw fit to take me so WHOO! I'm on cloud nine right now, just have to wait for MGH-IHP and make the decision. Congrats to all of you who have been accepted and to those of you waiting, stay positive! Hey everyone! I'm new to the board but very happy to be here. I am graduating in May with a BA in Languages (German, French, Spanish, Japanese) and intend to start applying to Direct Entry Nursing Programs at: Simmons, MGH-IHP, and Boston College. I have been dreaming of going to BC for a while and am beyond myself with worry and doubt, so much so that I almost think I should stop while I'm behind! So, I'm just looking for honest opinions concerning my chances...here we go: GPA: 3.74; Dean's List; ODK Member Pre-reqs: Stats A; Anthro A; Psych B I have great recommendations and a good essay but have not yet taken the GRE's but my practice test suggests that I'll be getting (in October) a score somewhere around 1000-1150. Not amazing but I'm trying, I'm lousy with those standardized tests. I have been volunteering with different hospitals for about 7 years now and am an EMT and a CPR Instructor. I also spent the summer working at a Clinic in Africa. So here's the clincher...besides the possible GRE score. I need to take Micro Bio, Anat and Phys and Orgo over the summer before the program if accepted. ..Is this unheard of and will they think my application is a joke? I'm so nervous and want nothing more than to get a chance to go next year so I am humbly asking your opinion. THanks for any advice! :heartbeat ThisAdventure
