TNCC Advice Needed!
Hi guys! I recently took the TNCC course and did not pass the written exam. The lectures were barely finished and I did not feel like I had been given any direction on what to focus my studies by the end of Day 1. It has been almost two weeks since I took the exam and I feel like everything I gained through lecture is slowly slipping away. i have lost all confidence I would love some input on how to go about focusing my studies as well as tips on how to best go about the process of elimination while looking at a test question. I did not find them to be similar to NCLEX (ABC). I have attempted to find practice questions and have not had much luck..I am having a freak out moment so..ANY feedback would be MUCH appreciated!

I received my acceptance letter to the Medical College of Georgia two weeks ago!:)

MCG BSN Program:
I only applied to MCG and Emory- but had planned on applying to 5-6 more. As for what was said about ATC, I was only going on what people told me while I was a transient student there during the Fall. I am sure it is not as bad as people make it out to be.. The ASN program is wayy different than the BSN (which is why I have decided to suck it up for another 2 years). If I were you, I would not write ATC off of my list. From what I hear they have a very good program!

MCG BSN Program:
I took at class at ATC as a transient student..... I do not know anything about their ASN program but have heard that it is difficult to get into. ATC is wierd about the dumbest things though.

In the health field, some go to college knowing that is what they are going to do while others have a story to tell. I think they forgive more than they let on.Out of cuiosity, what schools have you looked at that do not allow W's?
-
MCG BSN Program:
Yes. I decided to go into nursing after changing my major quite a few times . It would have been a miracle if i had graduated without any W's. ha. You will definitely have something on many applicants. I would imagine that most applicants have at least 1 W but maybe I am misinformed?!

MCG BSN Program:
i too went through a lot during my academic career and really capitalized on it in my essay. Experience sets you apart period, no matter how much you may have. It shows them that you know what you're getting into and wont back out once you have your eyes opened a little bit. I wouldnt worry about the vol. experience....just keep your head up!
-
MCG BSN Program:
I had a competitive GPA but they forgave quite a few W's. Also, I was not very involved at schools, besides my volunteer work at the hospital/hospice/etc. That's all to say.... not everyone they select are stellar students. For MCG, grades are not everything which is why the essay is so important. I know its hard to not be worried but just give it a week or so......

MCG BSN Program:
I was told the same thing when I called. The Athens class size is much smaller (25-30) than in Augusta (about 80 people) I lived with a girl who went to the Athens campus.....after seeing some of the differences, I decided that Augusta was Ta better fit for me. Feb.10th is when most of my friends started receiving letters last year.
-
MCG BSN Program:
Thank you!!!I am definitely relieved! I was accepted to MCG-Augusta, which was my first choice. Which campus did you apply for?
-
MCG BSN Program:
I had a 3.55 and a fair amount of volunteer experience. I think the shadowing experience will help you stand out from those who are going into this w/o any exposure. If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a message. I hope everything works out!!

MCG BSN Program:
Thank you!! I hope you hear some good news soon and definitely let me know when you have updates! GOOD LUCK!

MCG BSN Program:
I did....I received my letter of acceptance on Friday!

MCG BSN Program:
I called the admissions office again today...hoping that they would tell me something new. I was told that I was 1 of 5 decisions made this week and that the letters had already been sent out. The girl told me that they are meeting again next week but those letters will not be sent out until the 2nd week of Feb. (who knows if there is any truth to that- they tell you so many different things!) Its hard to remain optimistic with those small numbers and knowing that most people receive letters in Feb. So far, I have only applied to MCG and Emory. If I dont get good news, I will be applying to everywhere else in Georgia.haha. Where else have you applied?..I wouldn't worry quite yet.... technically they shouldn't have made decisions yet...

I hope the TEAS test isn't too bad. The NET looks wayy worse. Well..It sounds like you had a similar experience as I did with priority admission. It took a month after everything was there for them to find my letters/transcripts and enter them into the system. It seemed like each time I called.. something that was there before and ''being scanned and processed'' was now missing. I really don't think I was ever considered for priority due to the lack of organization. It sounds like you may be in that same boat. Everyone in the admissions office tells you different things..I was told that ONLY accepted applicants were notified...and that everyone else would be looked at with the reg. applicants (no one would be rejected at that time)... But then your friend received bad news??! Honestly, I think the people in admissions are clueless. Do you know the GPA of the girl who was accepted? I am guessing it was highly respected since she was accepted...
-
MCG BSN Program:
Thanks! Hopefully, I will receive good news. I really don't want to take the TEAS on Friday. haha. The time frame is throwing me off. I am trying to stay positive but the fact that the website says decisions are made in a Feb. has me down. Question: Did both of your friends have their statuses updated or just the one who was accepted?
-
Medical College of Georgia BSN Program
my application status now reads that a decisions has been made and i will be notified by mail. i called admissions to make sure that my new transcripts were considered in the process (because they are not in the system). i was told they were not but that it would not have changed the decision? completely freaking out. maybe they are sending out rejection letters first??? ahh! anyway, just wanted to update you and see if you have any news...did you call Ben?
-
MCG BSN Program:
So...I have been checking the online app status religiously...today it was been changed to " Decision Made By Admissions Committee; notification by mail". i am FREAKING OUT!!! I called the admissions office to make sure that my (updated) transcript from the fall semester were considered(there was a mix up). The lady told me that they were not but that it would not have changed their decision. She made it so much worse. Hopefully, they are not sending out the rejection letters first.....

Personally, I would call again and ask for Ben. He is great and is the only person I could get to straighten my records out. I bet he would tell you a little more. I am sure your GPA is fine if the only class you are worried about is History. I doubt that class will make the difference! Good luck to you! Hopefully, we will both receive GREAT NEWS:)

Medical College of Georgia BSN Program
I did apply by the priority deadline. There was a mix up with my transcripts so im not sure if i was even considered. I have talked to someone who also applied for early admission. She has not heard anything either. However, she has 2 friends who applied: 1 was accepted and the other was rejected. I think you should call the admissions office and get to the bottom of the immunization form request! I would going crazy if I were you! I will definitely let you know what I find out....I am really worried about my GPA being adequate!!!!!

Medical College of Georgia BSN Program
Hey.... maybe there was a mix up? medical records are usually requested after an initial acceptance? Do you know of anyone who has received an acceptance letter? or anything about the usual GPA of those accepted?

Kennesaw State Spring 2009
rn2beatlanta, If you don't mind me asking.....what would you say the average GPA is of those of your program? Also, how do they assign campus locations?

MCG BSN Program:
....Just wondering if anyone (who applied for priority admission to the BSN program at MCG) has heard anything??? I have not and am getting a little anxious!
