How much math is used in an intro to chemistry class?
I am almost done with my prereqs for an ADN program. I just need the sciences. A/P, Microbiology and chemistry. I am super intimidated by the chemistry class. Never touched the subject in HS. My school offers 2 "intro" classes, 051 and 065. The 051 is what is needed to get into nursing school. I accidentally signed up for 065. They said you need Intermediate algebra to do well in that class. I passed with a C, and this was several years ago so I am pretty sure I have forgotten many of the concepts. Should I drop this class and try to take 051 next year? I really don't want to fail any of my science classes. Or just try to power through the class. Another thing that bothers me is that I am basically in class all day. I know when I am in nursing school with rotations you are up all day but I think that's diferent you are actively working. I was thinking of taking intermediate algebra again and trying to brush up on chemistry with Kahn academy or Straighterline.

Am I "wasting" my time trying to become a RN if I want to get into informatics?
Well I am looking for a career that will help me to work with computers AND help people and make a difference at the same time. I found out about nurse/health informatics a few years ago and that has been my end goal. I am guessing if I want to get into the specific field of Nurse Informatics I would need a BSN correct? Well to be honest I am not totally sold on getting a BSN. My aunt, who is a 40+ year veteran tells me that she sees a lot of nurses come out of college with a BSN and they lack some basic patient skills because they spent the last 4 years learning about theory. I don't want that to happen to me. I really care about people and I know first hand what it feels to be treated by someone who thinks that changing sheets or cleaning someones butt is above them. I am not saying that every nurse feels that way but too many do IMO. That is why I was hoping to gt my nursing degree before I persue any kind of informatics. So should I just go for a generic Health Informatics degree, or will getting an ADN help me become more "in touch " with patients?

Anyone in CA about to start LVN Program?
Currently looking for a school. I visited Casa Loma today, the tuition came to $25K, and Walter Jay, M.D., which ewas about $28K, kind of high, but I don't want to wait forever in a community college. I will visit American Career College tomorrow. I am trying to figure if I can hold on to my job and take classes at the same time, I have 8 years there don't want to give it up yet (even though eventually I will quit).
