  1. OK. Thanks Silver Dragon :)
  2. Hi I also have a question about form 1, item 18. It asks "do you now hold or have ever held a license or certificate to practice any profession in any jurisdiction?" Does jurisdiction mean a US state or a country? I do not have a license in any US state, but I do have a license in our country. The question also asks for a Form 3 to be filled up by the licensing body who issued the license. However, form 3 pertains to the NCLEX test result which does not apply in my country. The term jurisdiction is quite confusing, and it would be nice if anyone could clarify things. Thank you.
  3. @Moresoda: Unfortunately, I do not have fellow classmates who applied for the service. Customer service told me that they sent another request 2 weeks ago. I called the school and they still have not received any request. I am surprised that they send important documents (documents where your future depends on) through the cheapest form of mailing. No wonder mail gets lost and the service takes eons to finish! @Pavlos: I have tried the "bug-your-registrar" strategy, but unfortunately, all the registrar could say was "nope, sorry, haven't received any mail from CGFNS". I cannot really bug her since I do not have any proof that CGFNS really sent the request. I called customer service hoping for some information about the courier service or a tracking number just so I could show the registrar that it was really sent. That is when customer service told me "I cannot give you that information". ARgggh! They are so unreliable! It is so frustrating!:angryfire It is quite a relief that there are people who feel the same way as I do. I am happy for you that you got through this predicament even though it took 15 months.
  4. @moresoda: it's a good thing your school told you that they sent it. Mine just keeps on saying "no we did not receive anything under your name". You said you waited 2 weeks. I have been waiting for 4 months now. 4 looooong months and all they could say is "we sent it twice already" and "no we did not receive anything". That's it, the end. CGFNS won't help, my school won't help. It is just so sad and disappointing. @NurseCubanita: no, unfortunately you cannot pay extra. As what I have posted, they told me that I shouldn't even be involved in this. So I'm not supposed to track mails and ask the school about it. @Silverdragon102: Im not asking information on different paperwork. Im asking about the status of my application which involves them sending the request to my school to get the transcript. My point here is that we pay large amount of money and they cant even do the service properly, they couldn't even assure me the mail would arrive and would be received by the right recipient.
  5. Good day. I'm starting to get worried about my CVS-NY application. Its either CGFNS is sending the request to a wrong address, or things keep getting lost in the mail, or my school is not processing the transcript request from CGFNS, or somebody stole the money and the mail that CGFNS sent. Please keep me from being too paranoid. I sent my CVS application September 22, 2009. The request for license was received by Professional Regulation Commission here in the Philippines and was processed and the license was received by CGFNS a week ago. I called my school (both the registrar and the college) regarding the request for transcript by CGFNS and they told me that they have not received any request. I called CGFNS and they told me that they sent the request twice already. Nobody wants to help - I mean, CGFNS just says "we sent it. I cant tell you more information that that"; the school just says "we did not receive any request. sorry." What should I do? If the last request is sent after a period of 6 months, and CGFNS did not receive anything from my school, what would they tell NY-BON? Do correct me if Im wrong, but I feel disappointed about CGFNS service. I pay a large amount of money for the service, make sure every address every number every letter is correct in the application and when things get lost, all they could say is "we sent it. NO additional information. and you're not even supposed to be involved in this". but I SHOULD be involved in this, this is my money, my documents, my school, my license, my future. If they could just give me their word that theyd trace it (I mean they can trace the mail - tracking number, courier service, cheque number) prior to submitting their report to NY-BON, I could seat back and relax.
  6. Wow! That cleared things up. Thanks very much!
  7. Good day. I applied for a California license, passed the NCLEX, and now I am required to submit a social security number to get the license. Since I could not get a social security number, and I learned that New York does not require a social security number, I was wondering: 1. Would it be possible for me to transfer my files from California to New York? 2. Do I have to take the NCLEX again? 3. Can I still apply for a New York license eventhough I have less than a year experience? (CVS application form asks how many years of nursing experience I have) Thanks.
  8. I dont mean to cause alarm, but I thought it would be helpful to state some facts. Last week, a "reliable source" told me that they need 1000 nurses. 942 are already accepted, (700+ in training, 200+ undergoing medical exam). They will train approx 20 NSET batches - and they are at batch 18 already. I suggest that if it has been months since you have taken your initial exam/initial interview, dont wait for them to call. Keep following up regardless of what they tell you (e.g. to wait for their call). There is a mountain of resumes in their office and your resume could be the one at the very bottom. It would be good to let them know that you are still interested with St. Luke's and waiting for their call. Good luck.
  9. Hi! Iv just been qualified for the NSET, but I forgot to ask where should I go for the first day of the training. Does anyone know where? What should I expect for the first day and the succeeding days? Thanks
  10. It is basically situational.. like "how would you prepare an elderly client for surgery?" "how would you ensure the safety of a disoriented client?" "how would you communicate with a deaf client?" "if the client asks for __, and there is no __ in the hospital, what would you do?" "are you in favor of abortion/contraception/euthanasia?". There are also some questions like "tell me about yourself" but basically for that part you defend yourself why you DID NOT take the nclex and give your future plans. For the research portion, they ask what research would you like to do for your masterals.
  11. I feel the same way. Not being paranoid, but think about it, if you were the HR, and you see the mountain of envelopes that we saw (which is equal to the number of applicants they have to consider for limited positions), wouldn't it be tempting to just pick the envelopes randomly? After all its a lot easier than browsing through all the resumes. And what's even better is to just ask the unsuspecting applicants to type in their contact numbers - no mountain of envelopes, more space, no "garbage". The problem with their new system is that it is open for editing. You just type your contact details at an MS Excel sheet along with the rest of the applicants. A new applicant could easily edit/delete contact details of other applicants or move his/her name on top of the list. I am actually beginning to feel that the whole hiring system is a big joke.
  12. Hello everyone. There seems to be a mystery with the drop box procedure. I tried submitting my requirements last December but they did not ask for my documents and there was no drop box. Instead, they directed me to the HR room where there is a computer in which you have to put your name, school, and contact details. Since they have not called until now, I am afraid that they just pick applicants randomly regardless of the applicant's credentials. My friend who accompanied me applied a few weeks before and said that he used the drop box then. He now fears that the documents he placed in the drop box were just discarded since he saw a mountain of envelopes/documents (that appear to be those that were placed in the drop box by the applicants) where the drop box was previously located.
  13. Wow so fast! Thank you for the replies and advice. Has anyone tried to submit their resume while they are still on "freeze hiring" status? Iv heard that they hired the topnotcher, and that means that they hired that person inspite of the "freeze hiring" status. I was hoping that they would make the same exception for me... jp_db07 : Thank you for the suggestions. Yes that is the reason why I am afraid to submit my resume to the HR. I have the feeling that theyd just think that I cannot read the sign or lose my papers. The reason why I wanted to apply in USTH is that they allow fresh graduates to work in special areas instead of working first in the regular wards. You mentioned that after the first exam, theyd give me a list of requirements. What kind of requirements are those?

  15. Good day! Im a UST graduate just this year. I know that USTH is not hiring nurses at present, but I cant help but wonder if they would be able to make exceptions? Someone told me that hospitals make exceptions for distinct nurses. But Im really afraid to submit my resume to their HRD since the board near their office is filled with "FREEZE HIRING FOR NURSES" signs. Would they still accept my resume eventhough it is made very clear that they are not hiring at present? I do not expect them to hire me at present, but I am just hoping that they would consider hiring me when there is a vacancy. How do I go about this? How do I tell the lady/gentleman at the HRD that I do understand what freeze hiring means and yet here is my resume and requirements? Also, does anyone know the requirements when applying at UST? What about the procedure? Test1 test2 interview...? What questions do they usually ask in their interviews? clinical/personal? Thank you :redbeathe
  16. Hi again! anyone here who has been accepted into the CAS Program without prior experience? -What should an inexperienced nurse answer in item 5 (Most recent practise box) of the application form? -What about item 6 (Competence declaration)? It states that one must have a) been employed within the last 5 years OR b) been required within the last 5 years to use nursing skills... OR c) completed an accredited or approved pre-registration...program Should I tick the box that states that I am unable to declare that I am competent to practise?? Im really confused please help me
  17. Wow! You really know so much! Thank you! Thank you! Aelith you are heaven sent
  18. Thank you so much. I guess it is totally different from nclex since there wouldnt be review materials or review centers available. Have you heard of nurses without experience who were accepted into the CAS Program?
  19. okay, wait.. they said im not allowed to rcv private messages here uhm is it possible for you to mail me? i would reeeaaaallyy reeeeeeeeeeeaaaallly appreciate it :)
  20. Hello Aelith. Iv read the entire thread and noticed that you know so much about registering in Australia. I was wondering if you could help me. I am very interested in the CAS program, the taking the challenge test part. Since the test is about Austrlian issues, is there a good review center in Manila that you could suggest? Any place where I could get review materials? If its an agency, what agency? Just so I would have an idea on what kind of questions they would be asking. I would also like to clarify if experience is required to be eligible for the CAS program. I just took my boards last June 2008 so I do not have any work experience at all. If its not required, what about that #5 question in their application? What should I answer? I noticed that we arent supposed to post agencies or companies here so uhm would you pm or mail me for that? Super thanks=)
  21. thank you for the quick reply. does that mean i have to wait for my license to come out this december? wont they discard my application papers while im waiting?
  22. hi i sent my application to the california board of registered nursing last July 14, 2008, with my explanation letter stating that I took the local board exams last June 1-2,2008 and do not have the results yet. Now, I already know that I passed the local board exams, but the license is still to be released on December. It appears from this thread that I need to send them a copy of my local license. Can I just send them a copy of my certificate from PRC? Thanks.
