  1. Ok, so I am 34 years old. I have a degree in psychology and have worked in the social service field (I have worked with mentally ill adults as well as children and families). I really thought that I wanted to go into the nursing field. I wanted to do either psch nursing or oncology nursing ( at age 31, I was a 2 time breast cancer survivor....BRCA1+). I have been accepted into a 12month accelerated BSN program. Currently I am finishing up my science pre-recs...I am taking chemistry, microbiology and physiology. To be honest, I am not liking my classes and I am thinking that I would enjoy getting my masters in social work better. Are there any nurses that have worked in the social services field and then did a second career in nursing? If so, what has been your experience? Any regrets or not?
  2. For someone thinking about a career in nursing...what are the career options if you don't want to work in a hospital setting? Everyone says that there are so many opportunities in nursing...but everything seems like it is hospital based. From what I have heard, doctors offices hire medical assistants or LPN's vs RN's. I have been accepted into a BSN-AT, right now, I am just finishing up some pre-recs. I often wonder if a career in nursing is for me if I don't want to work in a hosptital. Are there really that many more options in this career field?
  3. I have heard mixed things about HCA...does anyone work for them? I know that if you go to Research College of Nursing and agree to work for 2 years at a HCA hospital they will pay your tution for the accelerated BSN program. Have any of you done that and what was your experience?
