New Job-Medical/Surgical CNA
Hey, me too!! I just got hired as an advanced CNA on MICU. I am nervous and not sure what all I will be doing, during my interview, they said mostly the patients are on ventilators so they are sedated.

To switch or not to switch to RN? Any feedback?
I was 14 yrs in the telecom industry and my office had a layoff of all employees, I chose the CNA training, to get my feet wet, to see if I would like it... I love it... it is so interesting and during clinicals it was so rewarding. I absolutely love learning again and love helping and caring for people. I am so glad I made the jump into the nursing field, and am planning on going on for my LPN and then RN, hopefully. Right now I have to concentrate on bringing my math up, to get into the LPN. Good luck to you on your decision. My opinion, if you don't try you will never know.

Lots of CNA Queshtions
I hope you are going for it.. my class has been about 240 hrs, but it covered CNA and nursing assistant. I absolutely love it. from what I understand the state exam test though is difficult to pass for the skills test.. make sure you don't even short washing your hands for the full 15 seconds, one girl failed because she only washed for 14 seconds. Good luck, you probably will really like it.

How was clinicals for you?
We finished our clinicals today which was at a nursing home. My favorite part was in the Alzeheimers wing. They each had some interesting & outspoken personalities at times. I saw a tiny bit of the residents getting angry, but overall they play games and have activities and just to talk to them was sometimes very funny. Had one little lady that I fed, and when I was done she kissed and kissed my hand, other than that she really was kinda of a vegtable, didnt talk or anything. That was very touching. I liked the Alzeheimers better than the other wings, infact I'm going to start volunteering a little there. It should be fun.
