Phlebotomy seminars and workshops are hard to come by anywhere. Since venipuncture is an invasive procedure and the number of lawsuits for phlebotomy related injuries (not necessarily done by a phlebotomist) is rising - proper education is very important. Having a seminar to discuss phlebotomy or providing you with a couple of "sticks" cannot provide you with the confidence it takes to be a good phlebotomist. The school in Allen Park MI that timinChrist mentioned happens to be where most of the medical professionals are graduating from. It has been called the Harvard of Phlebotomy and the cost is $900 for a 30 hour course (5 Saturdays) and includes book and unlimited phlebotomy supplies. I have found that Medtexx will certifiy anyone - just give them your money. So if a certificate without education and experience is what you looking for Medtexx is your place. If you are looking for proper training using the CLSI standards - try the school in Allen Park. They are a State Licensed School. I found the number in the Newsherald Newspaper 313-382-3857. Keep us posted!
