hello, have a question: should the pn students wear white uniforms or be able to choose their own colors? in rural area that has worn white since 1985, this class and others hate to wear white, they all complain. the students went to administration and so now administration has told us to allow the students to choose what color. just wondering what others think.

Need some advice. Educator with 15 years experience with a Practical Nurse program. Problem dealing with a student with a documented disability. And stuck in the middle. This day and age one must be aware of being sued, or save a life. Such an ethic area to be in. Makes it even worst when the student does just enough right to get by. What is one to do???? Are there any rules or guidelines in nursing when dealing with a nursing student with a documented disability?

i too like the idea of being a caring instructor, however it seems when you relax, the students relax as well. they do just enough to get by with. lately i have students who can not get the basic nursing skills right. then when i say something it's my fault for being to hard on them. these are pn students, 2 semester med/surg clinical. for example not catching on that a o2 sat of 77% is a problem or a temp of 95 oral or a bp of 90/40. yet they are so ready to give injections and delegate personal care to na’s. how do you do both? be caring and make sure the student does not kill a patient?
